Of all the clubs struggling for players to delist, GC wouldn't have been my first guess.

Its what happens when you lock shiite players away to longer contracts then what you should (player retention)
Its fine, we are having a good run at being a salary dumping spot

Hard no. The top 10 next year is projecting to be stronger than this year's top 10.
Souup what "theoretically" would be your top 10 for next year?
I know its hard but I'm curious with the understanding your reasoning mate :thumbsu:

Mahony had better up his numbers. As should a number of others

It's been clear all year that he's playing a pressure forward role, and everything else has been secondary. He got repeated plaudits from Noble and others in the club for how well he was playing that role. When our forward line started to function better in the second half of the year, I think a lot of that was because of his pressure. It's easy to take a player like that for granted if you don't see the link between Zurhaar or Larkey kicking big bags and the guy who's making life hell for the defenders by smashing them every time they try to transition the ball.

Even then, he had games like the one against Richmond where he showed signs of being extremely effective as a traditional small forward. Consider the fact that he's just turned 20, isn't anywhere close to his peak as a player and will keep building his fitness, strength and skills. At this stage his spot is not available, if he's going to be replaced it'll be with a player who has that same ability to generate pressure acts in and around the arc, not a prolific goal kicker.

edit: my mistake, he's still 19.

Something to notice is that Noble lumped him in with Tarryn Thomas and Curtis Taylor when talking about the different age groups during his Syd speech, both of whom are 21.

I have a little bit of second-hand ITK with Jack. What I have heard is that the coaches are extremely happy with his progress and the role he is playing. Longer-term they would like to see him develop into an inside mid. Need to remember he was the youngest player in his draft year and still hasn't turned 20 yet.
That makes a lot of sense. As a small forward, he tries hard undoubtedly but he's held back by a serious lack of pace. Doesn't have the slipperiness and magic skills that the role requires. But you can cover that to some extent in the midfield if you're a quick thinker rather than a quick mover (Cunners, Sam Mitchell, Cripps, T Mitchell etc etc)

Said it with Jy after his first season, has the smarts and foot work to work well in traffic but lacks the speed to be an effective small forward. Jack lacks the footwork but is probably a smarter operator.

I really think we need to pick up a KPD with some experience even if he is just a back-up. We are light on for defenders with Tarrant leaving.
Other clubs seem to pick up solid mature rookie key defenders on a regular basis. Are there any key defenders in the VFL, SANF or WAFL worth looking at? Skinner seems to have had a strong season in the SANF?

I just assumed it would be with a prolific goal kicker because then he would be considered more of a mid.
So would you say instead of a small goal kicking forward, he is competing for his spot with a Taylor / Zuurhar type?

Tracking and top speed data from games would indicate otherwise.
Although such data is used by some only to re-enforce existing biases. Not the coaches fortunately.

Did you catch up with this morning news buddy.

I was 12 hours ahead of any news outlet reporting that Hawks interested in the suns pick 19 and salary dump.

Back in your hole.

My Vezpremi/Urquhart mail was days ahead of the question being asked at the presser.

Thanks for the insight.
Has good endurance and deceptively, is quick. Coupled with his presence over the ball, composure and good defensive skills, I’ve thought he could make a good defensive midfielder that can link on the counter and deliver into F50.
