Does anyone fear with Ratts going into his last season he'll want instant results and trade away top picks for whatever he can get?

Jesus you'd hope the list manager has bigger balls that that and holds firm. Losing Billings sounds like it will do the opposite in the short term.

I don’t think that’s his decision to make alone. That’s why you have a list manager.
And anyway, the list was good enough to make the finals last year. A half decent run with injuries and a half decent fixture and we’ll look ok.

Some of those long high value contracts must have been under Lyon?

Hard to cut bloke’s contracts back when they’re playing career best footy.

It’s telling that the only one of GT’s boys who the club tried to get onto a more appropriate deal left the club.

A half decent fixture? Regardless of where we finish the AFL will somehow manage to fixture us against the premier and runner up twice, all top 8 teams away, and with our luck the bottom 4 double ups will be the huge improvers of 2022

We need to strengthen the St.Kilda heart factor in the club. Our coaching panel is more Carlton orientated than St.Kilda, with Ratten and Hamil.
I would like us to try and lure X-Man back, and of course Sir Robert. There are other retired St.Kilda players that would make good assistant coaches, surely. Cripps, Hayes, have done well at other clubs, why has'nt St.KIlda given ex players the opportunity. Someone like Bake would have instilled a bit of hardness into the players. Milney some spirit maybe. f

Don't agree with that Clarko was never a Hawk, Dimma never a Tiger and Hamill is a Saint not a Blue.
Don't care where they come from as long as they're GOOD

I don't think it matters with coaching staff but it definitely helps to have club people.over seeing things.

A Brendon Gale type woukd be great for us.

I wouldn't mind us getting Harves back. I don't see him getting the Pies job so he might be ready for a change.

Buckley gives him a lot of credit for their rise in 2018.

I remember when it was rumoured we were trying to get Cripps back a few years ago. Many people couldn't understand it but since then hes done a very good job transforming Ports list.

He did have some quality experienced players there though which helps. Something we didn't have when Gallagher took over.

I would try and lure X'man away from the tigers. Offer him midfield or forward assistants position.

Because he’s apparently very good. Not just because of his Saint’s history.

I understand and see the logic in that. It makes perfect sense.

But what if Ben King wants to come home now and avoid the soap opera of speculation that he will cop next year? He will be under a lot of personal pressure to re-sign. It will be stressful for the lad and by extension the family.

Get him now and eliminate the risk that something happens next year that changes the landscape?

In the end it depends on the mutual commitment of both parties and whether we feel there is a need to do a deal now rather than later. We need to trust the club’s judgement on what is happening behind the scenes.
I think getting Ben out of the suns is going to be nightmare for any club they would demand a ridiculous amount in trade you would have to offer a huge contract they couldn’t match which I don’t think we’re in a position to do anymore don’t think any club is apart from maybe north I actually wouldn’t put it past the afl to step in and make sure he stays

You know what the least successful club in the history of the AFL needs, more people from the least successful club in the AFL running it.

Well X Clarke has been at Richmond and is very highly rated. I’d have him in a heartbeat.
