Fiorini and Brodie are both bits of one way runners. Dew won't take low work ethic players. He shoved Jarrod Lyons for he same reason. Dunstan might be a little limited in his disposal but he work hard both ways. I reckon they'll be good with that set up. Get it to the outside where guys like Anderson can get on their bike. They need some older heads with experience and hard bodies.
Dew gets it wrong as well
Lyons and Wright have proved that

Lyons maybe but Peter Wright was the right move.

Exactly like us and Acres. Wright teased and underperformed for years and was cruising on good money.
Maybe, I'm not so sure Wright was managed so good, He was always a huge talent I followed him closely in his draft year

His current output says they ****ed it up. He hardly played in his last year, in hindsight along side King he would have been handy.

Wright's a tricky one. His effort seems better this year but he also has an Elite Mid sending it down his throat. Not exactly what GC had to offer him.... key forwards have struggled up there, unsurprisingly. Dixon looked good, missed a bit with injuries and he's turned out a very good KPG.

Not sure what GC were to do with Wright, id have kept him one more year as a foil for Bing tbh

When some players get dropped they may give up and moving was the best thing for him , some guys will take up the challenge like Dunstan did.

Dunstan works hard in congestion. But he does not work ‘hard’ both ways on the spread once the balls in space. In fact I’ve never seen him work hard defensively to do a chase down tackle or help out in defensive 50m.

Good luck to Luke.
Hope his career is long and rewarding.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the FA compensation we receive works out to be an end of second round pick, say #38-#40.
To qualify for that, he needs to be paid in the top 50% of players.
Seeing the average salary is around $330k, acknowledging average is not the same as median, you’d have to think it’s reasonable that he might be getting $350k+.
Relocation interstate etc.
I’d guess that would still be less than what he was earning from us on his last contract…..

But that leads to the next question: say two FA’s from different teams leave and each of the old teams get end of second round compensation.
How do they decide who gets #37 and who gets #38?

Should be by ladder position, but it is the AFL so wouldn't guarantee it.

💯. very good in the pit but once the ball is out of that zone he struggles. We can’t have him and crouch in the same team. Crouch doing the grunt, Steele doing a combo of everything then a player like Kelly/Merrett would be the ideal combination. If Jones could lift his consistency and disposal he can be that player we need. If Gresh could improve his disposal he is the player that could take our midfield to the next level.
Dunstan has no other tricks in that he’s not a good overhead mark, he can’t push forward, he doesn’t get back defensively to intercept, he doesn’t break the lines.
I like him, he tries his guts out and is hard as a cats head but it’s time to move on

This is it exactly, can't believe the revisionism of Dunstan that he runs both way.
That is the most LOL worthy comment of the night.
Someone the other day said we should have put him on Danger to stop him [emoji1787][emoji1787].
Almost choked with laughter. God I wished that had done that, it would have been hilarious.
Come to think of it the way Dangerfield ran about with no opponent perhaps they did put Dunstan on him [emoji3]

One of my biggest issues with Dunstan was his poor defensive running... he's a liability when the opposition have the ball outside a contest. Really not sure how you can say he works hard both ways... he's actually quite lazy at times.

Who else is glad that we have closure on the dunstan conversation? I’m ****ing over it, can’t kick, won’t ever win a flag with him. Happy with any compo we get

They take age and games played , salary and length of contract.
His time looked like it was up years ago. Sick of him. Would rather give the spot to someone who might be good than to someone you know isn't. He's had a pretty good run at it. Now he's just soaking up the $ and wasting a spot on the list.
I agree but many don't - There will be a lot of players de-listed who would be better than him - keeping a back pocket that has lost his pace is 34 next year is strange.
A lot of these players end up being remembered as a broken down slow spud instead of the gusty , courageous little defender he was.
But it is what it is and if he stays I hope it is better for the club.
