There uis a bit of a victim mentality with him. Refuses to try to play another position so not seen as for the playing group, sacrificing his own game for the group (like Hill did by going to HBF and Crounch did by going to HF to allow a once position player in Dunstan to play)

Wont follow team rules in looking to handball to runners going past and continually bombs it into the fifty without any strategy.

Cant run both ways, he defensive side is terrible and when he was dropped for the final game he cracked the shits at the coach which is never a good career prospect.
he is a capable AFL player in a limited way but it is best if he ply's his trade at a different club. Hope he goes well.
Left the weights session early after being dropped to get a coffee

Starting to think it's better to assume that Owens and Windhager will both be taken in the teens. If they slide through, it'll be a bonus.
I wasn’t joking when I said this last week

It’ll happen. You know it, I know it, we all know it

This type of shit is in our DNA

What is the talk around Long being looked at by a few clubs - if true what is his trade value - a second or third round pick

AFL article reckons we'll let him go for the right price.

I personally don't think he's worth more than the mid 30's at best. But he is contracted so could maybe squeeze a bit more out of a club. If there's multiple clubs interested then brilliant. Dogs for pick their Pick 17 thanks.

I don't get that feeling at all. 2018 we picked up King and Bytel both for the future andstarted to look at late season speculators in Hind Parker and Young, two of who are still on AFL lists. Also elevated some rookie called Marshall and played a mature age named Wilkie

If we were rebuilding we wouldn't have picked up 5 ready made players in trades but would have kept picking kids in the draft. Our late draft speculation went
to new heights with Byrnes and Connelly both whom have shown they are AFL capable.

Again 2020 we selected two experiences AFL players in Crouch and Higgins a speculator in Alison and another ready made mature player in Highmore. A few top ups didn't work in Mckernan and Frawley, but we had limited success with Wood and Hunter. Seem to have struck paydirt with Sharman in the MSD, Heath is a young ruckman and can't be critisised. Has to be an upgrade on Alabaskis surely.

Seems more like a strengthening of the list depth overall looking to bring in the top quality or for the current talent to step up like Steele.

I would agree if we didn't have the likes of Steele and Crouch in the guts with outside experience in Ross and Clark and Gres adding to the quality. Dunstan had Steven and Armo a bit of Joey at his back end and not much more. He was thrown to the wolves and probably picked up his bad habits of grabbing and booting it to noone.
The difference with Bytel and Dunstan is that Bytel is defensive as shown with his 8 tackles against Freo. his run with role is ideal for a player like him, players like Mundy will take him to the ball and he can use his defensive skills to nullify one of the chief opposition ball users. One thing Steele started to do near the end of his run with role was that he would stop his opponent AND get his own ball. 17 possessions/8 tackles/ and 2 goals is a fair return for a player with under 20 games experience. Once he starts getting 2 or 3 more possessions a quarter he will be a really important player.
Dunstan had a year to learn off Lenny and Dal and a few years to learn off Joey Stuv and Armo. He had enough people to learn from, he’s just not that good.

His kicking is atrocious, which can be attributed to his horrendous ball drop and tendency to kick around his body. His defensive work rate is poor. He relys heavily on being a contested accumulator, but even then he’s still not as good as the top 10 mids in that area anyway.

I hope people trashing Dunstans reputation have pretty good intel, pretty unfair to a bloke who really gave everything and was a great clubman from what I can gather.
………. Or was he???

Probably the creepiest thing I have done but, according to Wiki, they were born in 2014, 2016, and 2019. So if they wanna play AFL and have what it takes, those are FS selections in 2032, 2034 and 2037. 🤣🤣 What other possible father sons could we be looking at?
Stew ie Loewe has twins.I believe they are in the same year level as James
Good luck in getting a kick amongst those 3 !

Maybe a package of Battle and Long could get a late teens pick. But I'm pretty stumped who we can get rid of. Coffield? Not supporting the idea but could we?!
The presser from the club looked to me like they would look at deals, so must have Long and possibly someone else in mind. I am only guessing on that.

And that is probably why the club want to move him on.

I love Longy [emoji22]

Sets the tone with his attack, hardest player on our list imo. Backing him in big time to return to 2020 form

If Riley Beveridge’s article is accurate, Long will be traded if we get “a suitable offer”.

I’m wondering whether that offer will be a pick in the 20s. If so, it would fit in with the suggestion that we are looking for an extra early round draft pick.

Pick 9 and the Ben Long pick in exchange for Brisbane’s picks 14 & 18. Not sure if Brisbane would do that but that is one possibility. The other is another player is packaged with pick 9.

It’s possible we are worried that Owens or Windhager could be pinched with a late teens draft pick. It’s also possible that we genuinely believe that this draft is wide open and taking the downgrade is worth it.

No one in their right mind is offering a pick in the 20s for Long.
