I come in peace.

The jungle drums have been sounding all year that he will be heading to Brisbane ... meaning the city .... and by extension to you guys.

Terrific kid, bit immature and very lost and it's a lonely place being in rehab, plus travel to see his family has been compromised due to Covid.

Would think he has told WC that he is walking away from the game and we can do one of three things.

Hold him on the list for another 12 months ( highly doubt that we do this as its not usually our Clubs way ) , or we delist him and you guys get a free hit and pick him up for nothing .

We could engage with your recruiters and just trade him for a very late nothing pick ..... we generally don't screw genuine cases of when player want out if its for the right reasons.

If we trade him for nothing it's an action of good will to both you and him..... hope that you guys remember it ...but thats a real "what if " as it's an odd case where Clubs bank goodwill.

I suspect you get a very, very talented player that needs some nurturing and a bit of TLC and being around his brother and extended family will help that.

Think that you guys will be smiling big time in two or three years and will have a wonderful player on your list .

Very sad and sorry to be loosing him , but I wish him all the best in his future.
I think maybe we have the goodwill in the bank. You did get a pretty good deal with Witherden, and I think we are still paying some of his contract.

I hope we do end up with young Cameron, sounds like he's a bit lost at the moment and a year off may be the best thing for him. Outside Blake Coleman I think we are a bit short on sm fwd depth.

I think we could find a trade for Ely Smith (north) and Tom Joyce (freo or wc) if we wanted to open up list space. Putting Hippy on long term injury list for the whole season would do the same too, wouldn't it? Brichall has retired, delist Ballenden, B Smith. Wish we could talk someone into CEY.

I reckon the Machiavellian nature of our list managers will have plans to do what we need. Surely we can manage a cpl of trades n a few draftees.

Joyce is out of contract anyway, so we could just delist him if we wanted to.

As far as I'm aware, putting Hipwood onto the LTI doesn't help us during the trade/draft period in freeing up a list spot. If we have the intention of bringing him back next season, we can't put him on there to utilise a mid-season draft pick either.

Delisting Joyce, Ballenden, A Smith and B Smith (along with the retirement of Birchall) would free up four list spots to be used.

My Trade Targets:

Pick 15:
Best available talent

Pick 18 + Pick 47 = Pick 28 + Callum Coleman-Jones (Richmond)
The lack of depth of a KPF showed a huge deficiency within the list. Coleman-Jones is a readymade young KPF who should be getting games. We don’t have any players on the list that can take pack and contested marks. Will be good structurally.

Stats:

Highlights:

Pick 28 = Riley Bonner (Port Adelaide)
Rich will be 32 next year and now Birchall gone, the list lacks an attacking half back with good foot skills. Has very good foot skills and out of contract still. Also played well in the finals against Bulldogs. Will be hard to get him out of Port being a SA, but worth the effort. I would offer him a 4 year contract.

Stats:

Highlights:

Pick 52= Matthew Kennedy (Carlton)
I reckon needs a new environment to thrive. At 190cm is a balanced mid who can play inside and out. Also, good overhead, tackles, can go forward and kick goals.

Stats:
https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg-carlton-blues--matthew-kennedy-1
Highlights:

Pick 57 = Jarred Cameron (Rookie) (West Coast)
Charlie Cameron 2.0. We don’t really have depth in the small forward department since Coleman move to down back. Too good of a talent to leave the game and maybe playing with his brother can help him get going.

From what I vaguely recall, we basically paid this year's contract (which we would have anyway) and WCE take it over from next year.

Don't think we have the cap space to be bringing in trade targets now Neale is staying. Just be going to the draft I think.

You must be eager for some VFL success next year with those trades

My best uneducated guess is that this off season we will >

Trade in a mature backup ruck for the Big O IF we delist Archie.

Make 3 selections in the draft ie. 14 & 18 + trade out our 2022 1st rounder on the night for our annual gun slider.

Cannot see Tigers getting rid of CJC.
Chol yes.. and sort of 50-50 on Chol.
He has good games like against us this year then goes missing
Would he be a upgrade on Fullarton now.. probably better in the ruck and a better mark.
Goal kicking well he kicked 4 against us although only two other games out of 9 he kicked goals.

We need a ruckman to help Oscar. Could someone put up a list of candidates, with their contract status, age, etc?

Darcy Fort? Contracted to end next year.

* Prepared to be shot down. Can’t get a gig in a ruck-less Geelong team.

Or there’s the big dopey yank.

* Now ducking for cover.

That list reminded me of our trade targets in 2015-2017. Lots of depth players from other clubs that would help take us out of bottom 4

There is a plethora of rucks who could be available, OOC 2021 according to footywire > Darcy Cameron(26), Mason Cox(30), Lloyd Meek(23), Kieren Briggs(22), Matthew Flynn(24), Tom Campbell(30), Mabior Chol(24), Callum Coleman-Jones(22), Paul Hunter(28), Callum Sinclair(32), Nathan Vardy(30).

IMO everyone of them would be an upgrade on Archie, ages in brackets, of those I'd prefer one of Briggs, Flynn, Cameron, Meek.

Fort was very good against us at the Gabba 2 yrs ago or last year? The Yank might be asking for a higher price than we would like.

If we could get the Forward/ruck players from that list on the same coin as Archie the Club should at least ask the question to their respective managers
However i imaging quite a few would want much more than what we are paying Archie
Back to the salary cap issue i suppose.

Only like Coleman-Jones from that list and he will cost to much to get
Probably stays at Richmond.
However if he want to leave for more opportunity and much more money he goes to the Suns

Nobody is giving up anything for those guys. Why would they. They can have them for free after being delisted. Sadly Joyce this year and happily Smith next.

We won’t have any key forward stocks in the wings if we let Ballenden go. Not sure he’s going to make it but I’d be hoping for another talk to come in.
Henry Smith.

He'll take whatever salary he's offered to stay in the league. Can't see there being a big market for him.

Hi everyone another long time lurker first time poster. Salary cap permitting I think a few old heads for ‘depth’ is what we need as our next up at the moment seem to be at least a year or two away from being really competitive. Ballenden, the Smiths seem to be very much fringe and if there is a way to trade / delist then some old heads who have been delisted from other clubs might fit the bill to help guide the younger guys around in the reserves and step up with bodies ready to tackle the AFL rigour (though possibly not permanently). Casboult is one who could do a job, long shot by even Daniel Tahlia if his body could be fixed up would be a pretty handy kpd and then draft talent to bolster midfield depth which there seems to be plenty of in this draft. The options of other rucks listed would also be great but again it comes down to salary space - Briggs would be a great addition.

Petrevski-Seton?
Where does he fit?

He’s an inside outside mid who doesn’t get played in the midfield because he lacks the tank. He’s not fast, and would struggle to run back in defence.

He would just be a depth player here off a forward or back flank.

It’s a big no to recruiting “depth” players from me.

Best 22 or stick to the draft.

The only exception would be Callum Coleman-Jones, as he would start the season as our stay at home KPF and chop out ruck. And would be a genuine chance at being the first choice ruck very early on.
