it was 2017 last MCG home game between the two I think. 33,000.
Last 5 at the MCG (Collingwood vs Adelaide) before today:

Round 2 2022 = 36,843

Round 19 2017
(Sun Afternoon) = 33,269
Round 18 2014 (Sun Twilight) = 41,486
Round 16 2013 (Fri Night) = 54,790
Round 21 2010 (Sat Night) = 42,159
Round 1 2009 (Sat Afternoon) = 41,588

Certainly the Bombers crowd was poor, understandably. Members didn’t show up after last weeks flop. Reserved seating bays were more than half empty and the walk up crowd didn’t show up. I decided not to go this week, still filthy about the attitude displayed last week first up. On a sunny afternoon I didn’t need the stress and dissaoountment thanks. I’ve been a member 27 years and only missed 5-10 games in Melbourne the last 20 years. Yesterday was the first time I’ve missed a 1st home game in 16 years! I wasn’t alone.

Another two years away are the Bombers. That’s the reality. The list is good, not perfect but foundations are there. It just needs time and patience to evolve. Don’t believe the linear growth and media hype of winning finals. Positive is the Clubs back on track off field and culturally which is the critical bit.

In the meantime Bomber fans will probably watch more of games on TV rather than attending. Certainly in the early part of the year as it fights a tough draw.

Suns crowd also quite poor. They appear to have lost 30% of its active following, despite all the football played up there the last 2 years. A concern for league HQ.

I’m predicting around 13,500 for the North v West Coast game today. Around 32,000 at the G for Richmond v Giants.

Crowds so far this week have been decent. Can’t complain about every game being above 30k so far (besides GC.)

However, it looks like a very poor crowd for North. Looks like they’ve closed off half of the top tier.

10th lowest crowd ever at Marvel - 4 of the bottom 9 were in season 2021.
And I assume the Eagles would’ve had reasonable support from their Victorian fans. Keeping it real, the Roos are no show for finals and a reasonable portion of their match going fans would’ve drifted into the inactive space.

Gotta say that is pretty dissapointing. Even in these times, I thought Richmond supporters would come out with their first home game, on a beautiful sunny day in Melbourne. At least should have got 35k-40k

40k very unrealistic.

Very very rare Richmond break 40k against interstate teams. Only really started doing it in prime time the last 4 years.

In home and away I think 2 GWS games in Melbourne fixtures have got 40k and I’m sure they were both Collingwood?
