I have no probs with this in theory but none of the top 8 teams pick wise would give up their first this year you'd think maybe even more than that. It is possible Melbourne bite but they have pick 13. Realistically I think our F1 is worth a lot more than pick 13 but what teams with the first dozen picks would want to give it up. I can't see anyone with the top 8 picks giving it up. Maybe the cats can give up pick 7 for our F2 t sweeten up the lop sided Danger deal.

Reid can play anywhere , he would start at half back just like Daicos did

Re Cadman - they Obvs don’t rate him close to the top 3 on their list and that’s ok

They must be waiting for a v special key forward ( in their eyes ) to pull trigger and realise they’ll have more chances

In meantime having Sheezel at half forward and Reid at half back will help

They prob think they’re getting a top 5 priority pick next year too

if by some miracle of god we got reid, and he played HB in round 1 2024-I bet he'd be playing midfield by round 2

Depends if GC asked for 5 specifically and if we then acted in so-called ‘good faith’

Still a number of scenarios on the table with the picks we possess, as there always is (even though most or all of them won’t eventuate)

Give me a spell, we've had a number of trades (real world things that have happened) in the last few years that suggest we've been aggressive in our negotiations, particularly in our motivations to secure elite talent and list needs and to not deviate away from that because we're acting in 'good faith'. Good faith would have been a future 1st for Rankine and let GC sort out the rest.

We know we need elite talent through the midfield, particularly a big-bodied mid that can go forward. We know this because Reid AND Ogilvie have mentioned this several times, and have also publicly mentioned bringing in our future 1st into this year to achieve our goals.

All of that could have been achieved if we were genuinely interested in Phillipou, which I'm going to back in Volbeat and say we're not, not just because of the 'red flags' but because literally every other indicator says we're not.

I think a few people are going to be very disappointed when we don't have a crack at a pick in the Top 10 if Phillipou is still available.

As usual a few people have put some nice highlights up on here, and he's climbing the rankings a bit, and all of a sudden they don't want to hear that he has some qualities that might not fit with the culture we're trying to bring to the club. 'Team first' etc etc

Rachele is a classic example of confidence and talent to back it up, Phillipou sounds like he's a bit arrogant and ahead of himself. Volbeat mentioned those red flags a while ago, and whilst you may not like to hear them you've at least got to give credit and say there may be some truth to them, particularly in light of Phillipou's comments.

I wish a few more of our 1st rounders had this sort of confidence (excluding the past 2 years).

Hamish often mentions leadership traits in his summaries (it feels like he does - no links) but to me it seems majority of our list are introverts. Certainly a few confident ones - Rachele, Ned, Tex, Izak etc

Would like to have a big midfielder who has some swagger. I like what Phillipou said and hope we do have a plan to get him

I don't think North are a lock for pick 1 next year. West Coast will give it a real crack, Hawks will probably go backwards next year too and could be a chance.
