I am trying to remain diplomatic and have decided not to respond
In saying that, how Olivia Robinson hasn't made the Country Squad is beyond me, can play on any line to a good standard and doesn't do much wrong, I reckon I'd have her before about 6 other country reps

Yep, I'm holding out hope that perhaps they are trialling say the bottom 8-10 for when they take on SA, and ORob might be in the next one.

Not many surprises here, seems similar to last year where Country have picked a good team and Metro have selected their best 20 odd players

solid squads
any players your surprised got selected, any players you think are stiff to miss out ?

I think Metro went with the expected squad, there's probably a couple that I would've liked to see included like Tahlia Read and Paige Ryan (Ryan admittedly not as solid this year, feel this is moreso due to Westerns rise than her as a prospect though) but I can't really see who I'd take out, if I was being harsh maybe Beatty but she's on the same level as them so it makes sense to go with her

Country is always an interesting squad, Olivia Leonard, Olivia Robinson and Maddison Gray are the main ones that stand out as stiff exclusions, Robinson and Gray probably moreso than Leonard imo, but if I'm speculating it looks like Country have gone with a squad heavily influenced by AFL recruiters given the amount of overagers in there

Pie 4 Life - Seen your first version of the power rankings, who do you think are the best Victorian rucks out there?
The two standouts are probably Russell and Austin, however Austin is more than likely to be pre-listed by Hawthorn with their zoning. To be honest, I think clubs are going to be better off holding off a year on U18 Vic rucks, the likes of Vukic, Lyne and Hose are looking really good, and can all play multiple roles as well so won't be ruck specialists

Honestly I think this year it may well be better looking to mature-age talent for rucks. Mia Austin would be my pick, but as PMBangers said, Hawks could pre-list her (depending on rules). Both Lauren Wakfer (WA) and Fleur Davies (GC) will be taken by their respective states, so IMO the best option is to look for a readymade option. I think that will be a theme, the VFLW-listed players will get an increased chance this year, as well mature-age SANFLW players.

My understanding from a mate is that Gray is in the squad but just won't play in this match because she's either still injured or returning from injury. Similar deal for the likes of Van Loon and Simpson plus another who is escaping my mind right now.

thanks Pie 4 Life for your 2022 AFLW Draft March Power Rankings on RMC
very concise & insightful
Thanks. We'll get an even better idea once the Champs are done and run. There's quite a few players I want to see how they perform against players across the nation their own age (particularly SA and WA) and equally, how some of the Vic players deal with different styles. It's an even group after the top 15 for mine, so excited who might pop up over the next couple of months.

not at all surprised with the U/18 Vic Country v Vic Metro Girls Championship game result
as star studded as Vic Metro were last year, this year, especially the midfielders read like the 1992 Olympics USA basketball "dream team"

what did you think of Paige Scott & Amber Clarke games?

fantastic write up, big :whitecheck:

Scouting notes on the Champs game from yours truly, was a really interesting hitout despite the result, traditionally how Metro select their teams (Best 20 odd in the region as opposed to best functional team) worked out for them this time, no one really stiff to miss the squad but they had a good balance of different types of players, and the ability to rotate the likes of Hurley and Fleming out of the midfield for chunks of the game but maintain dominance is just insane. With Charley Ryan going down with what looks like a bad knee injury and some below par performances for Country, I wouldn't be shocked to see Olivia Robinson from Dandenong get a call up for their next two games, should've been in the initial squad!

Top 3 performers from each side;
Country
1. Jamie-Lee Speakman
2. Charley Ryan
3. Taylah Gatt
Metro
1. Rylie Wilcox
2. Jasmine Fleming
3. Sofia Hurley

I watched Ella Roberts in her come back game. Ive rarely seen a female player with such lovely skills. But rusty but kicked a nice goal. I think the WA team will hold themselfs in good account over the champs. After 6 or so rounds of WAFLw in, who will be their top line players on current form?

Elkington over Gunton easily. Agree with the rest though, good top end but then I feel most of the better ones are younger (which is the case with most).

Any complete squads for the AFLW U18 carnival available?

Also, likewise for U16's?

Cheers.
WAs team to go SA this weekend should not be far off 23/24 to fly I understand - i can give you a list of the 36? (WAFC webpage)

WA 16s are done and dusted here.

SA, QLD both complete. VC and VM just rotate players without officially naming squads (though kinda obvious from that). WA has the extended squad it will trim down. NSW/ACT also announced, haven’t seen Tasmania/NT yet.
