We might not have a choice..McKenzie may be the last mid left at our pick.It would make sense to go with McKenzie given the success of Windy and Owens. It just feels like a good move.
Windhager’s back was bad, only just avoided surgery..missed a fair chunk of last pre season, which makes his performance this year all the more impressive.Did hurt his back, but wasn't too bad obviously. Saints got him into moth balls early, don't know if they got Owens to run dead though.
We need to pick up a pure mid with our first pick, that’s where the cream is..picking mids lower down the pecking order rarely pays off!Sounds like Essendon is choosing from tsatas/phillipou, Gold Coast will then take Humphrey, and Hawthorn who is left out of tsatas/phillipou. You would assume Geelong then take clark, leaving west coast a choice out of ginbey/busslinger/Allan/McKenzie. If west coast take cmac, I wonder who we go? I’d nearly take busslinger and pick up a small forward plus mids with our later picks.
Yep, the “injury is a ruse” story is an urban myth.Windhager’s back was bad, only just avoided surgery..missed a fair chunk of last pre season, which makes his performance this year all the more impressive.

Wasn't a ruse, but came in handy. Was told mid year to pull back a bit, before the back, so it wasn't blatant, however it was beneficial.Yep, the “injury is a ruse” story is an urban myth.
Booming kick which is very handy when he goes forward.Hewett 185cm / 85kg goal kicking mid ready to go
Didn't he hurt his back well after the NAB League season had been shutdown?Wasn't a ruse, but came in handy. Was told mid year to pull back a bit, before the back, so it wasn't blatant, however it was beneficial.
I really like Hewitt if Mackenzie & Phillipou are gone.Booming kick which is very handy when he goes forward.
At this stage, he's looking like the favourite for our pick. But that's with Geelong and WC expected to take a local prospect. So… we’re not getting Mackenzie?
I’d really come to accept that.
Looked as good as anyone in one of the championship games I watched. I watched an interview with him, he was well spoken and has his head screwed on. Played a lot of elite baseball in rep team up until around 15 and wasn’t concerned where he was drafted. Played very little u18 football this year as he’s been playing seniors with swan districts so that’s a bonus as well.I really like Hewitt if Mackenzie & Phillipou are gone.
Correct. There hasn't been any real discussion with us and those 2 players - not sure if that's because we aren't interested or if the media presume they will be gone - so it's ideal if they go to Geelong and WC because then at least one of our preferred targets would still be on the board.Thats Clark and Ginbey?
* i wish the draft would just hurry up.
I have the opposite story.Wasn't a ruse, but came in handy. Was told mid year to pull back a bit, before the back, so it wasn't blatant, however it was beneficial.
I've liked the descriptions of him. Haven't seen anyone taking him as early as our pick though so I'd say it's unlikely.I really like Hewitt if Mackenzie & Phillipou are gone.
I have the opposite story.
Wanna play which ITK has the biggest d1ck?
Any of those three would be fine in my bookTwomey in his podcast this morning pretty much saying Essendon still deciding between Tsatas/Phillipou, But Hawthorn are really keen on Tsatas and will probably snap him up if he makes it through.
Said we are another club interested in him. Said Geelong are keen but pretty much confirmed Clark will go to them.
I’m thinking if Essendon take Tsatas. The Hawks will take Mackenzie, unless Humphrey is still on the board.
Which means Phillipou for us
Even with the recent talk of the hawks flying him out and a bunch of interviews?Twomey in his podcast this morning pretty much saying Essendon still deciding between Tsatas/Phillipou, But Hawthorn are really keen on Tsatas and will probably snap him up if he makes it through.

The picks between 5 & 12 are fairly predictable but in what order a player goes is the main debate!!So… we’re not getting Mackenzie?
I’d really come to accept that.
The kid’s being realistic, the draft is a lottery whereby he could go to any of a number of clubs!Interesting article about McKenzie on the Fox website , the kid doesn't even mention any link to St Kilda , in any shape or form.
It didn't sound like he was keen to get to us , maybe i missed something as i remember Windy and Owens talking about how they trained with the Saints and hoped they got picked up by them
West Coast keen on Gibney
“My mail is there is a whisper around that even West Coast are exploring an option of pushing a little bit higher up the draft in the hope of nabbing him before someone else.
“If he’s not there at the Eagles’ pick eight or nine, there’s still some exceptional talent and exciting prospects.”
West Coast’s list manager Rohan O’Brien told SEN WAon Tuesday that picking local talent was usually the “better outcome” for them
