Geelong will hit a cliff soon. I know it's been said for a decade but their youth are a long way back compared to their over 30s. They actually went flat out at a flag and have stopped doing the management that got them to be a consistent finalist for so long.

Everyone keeps saying that but they just picked up 3 talented kids in the trade to go with pick 7.

Hopefully, you're right, we've all had enough of them winning.

I reckon they still have a shot at another one or two. They got pick 7 in the draft FFS.

So pick 7 is going to replace Selwood? Danger and Thouy are going to be 33, Hawkins will be 34 in July. Even Blicsavs will be 32 in march. Stewart and Cameron are youngsters turning only 30.

They got that kid from the Pies.

The problem with Geelong is that so many who get drafted grew up down that way, and are keen to get back there later in their careers, then it’s also an appealing place to live for those who prefer the country lifestyle, like Jezza Cameron.

Then there’s the fact that Geelong apparently offer everyone incredible property deals, and that no-one gets overpaid there, plus it’s highly appealing to go to a successful club, and they have effectively an interstate team-like home ground advantage 9 times a year, but then effectively have a 2nd home ground at the MCG, so it’s hard to see much changing any time soon.

They have so many advantages it’s not funny.

Henry, who's a developing third tall type. Not going to be a straight swap for an ageing Hawkins who is one hammy off the end at 34.

Bowes from the Gold Coast is more likely to be instant impact IMO.

They have been amazingly lucky with injury but carrying so many that old can come undone quickly.

I'm not saying your are wrong and I hope you're right but just think they can go again for the moment - in 2 or 3 years .....
..... they will fall off no doubt.

They got Danger for unders but that stuff is a bit over the top IMO. They haven't got a huge pile of young stars because of it.. If Jeremy Cameron has a bad injury run and Hawks goes down they are all of a sudden relying on Rata, Gary Rohan and Stengle to kick a winning score. Their midfield needs Guthrie and Duncan firing and healthy or they get a bit thin on the ground. As they age they are going to find it harder to manage soft tissues and work loads too.

On the flipside, it will free up a lot of cap space, and pretty much everyone who’s looking for a new home wants to go to clubs in the top half of the ladder, so they’ll presumably just continue to do what they and Richmond did this year.

AFL equalisation measures just aren’t working any more. The rich get richer.

The poor get the picture.

The bombs never hit you when you’re down so low.

Cals top 3
Gehrig
Ralph Clarke
Justin Sweeney

Wouldn’t be surprised to see the Eagles take Tsatas leaving us with Humphrey in this scenario. But Cal is usually spot on with the first 10.

Think Hawks take Humphrey if he is there
