I’m really not a fan of taking a guy like that with such a high pick but I think you’re right about the gaff comparison. He was bagged by plenty including me as a seagull who couldn‘t kick over a jam tin but he was still a very good player and hard to stop.
Gaff was never a seagull. His contested ball numbers were better than most of our mid
Happy to be corrected but I’m pretty sure he often rated very highly in uncontested ball and turnovers.
I think you would struggle to find a mid with lower contested numbers than GaffGaff was never a seagull. His contested ball numbers were better than most of our mids.

Round oneSo is it just round 1 or only top ten tonight?
He made it sound like Cmac won’t be coming to us.Gags on the radio right now. We aregonna try to get another pick and be aggressive in this draft. Pumped
Gags just said we won’t be doing thatBreens point, Goddards Mark and Spencers goal on debut. #mcgmoments
Hawthorn board increasingly bullish we'll give up our F1 to move up a few spots.![]()
I expect him to be a top 10 pick , missed half a season and made the All Australian team as CHB - tall key position player's are harder to find than the dozens of midfielders being touted - will be interested where he is picked at.In his interview he acknowledges his inconsistency and says he struggled moving from team to team (implying he had different roles in each team and also the WA boys threw the magnets around after an uninspiring start to the championships). I wasI expect him t very surprised by his level of maturity and eloquence. I do like Hewett, but not at 10, and not for next years first.
I still think Busslinger is a chance to go top 10 as well which would not only really open up the options at our pick, but energize other clubs looking to trade into the top 10 as well.
We want to bring in another pick between our first and second.Anyone got a summary of the interview?
Tsatas Phillipou or CMac is such an exciting set of options. Would be happy with any of them. Really warming to the idea of getting another high pick in too.We want to bring in another pick between our first and second.
Happy to trade into this draft and not bank picks for next year.
Wont be trading picks to move up. Clubs can call us about moving down.
One of Tsatas phillipou or Cmac. But made it sound like Cmac won’t be there.
Not prioritising a list need. Just taking talent.
Interestingly enough… they showed a random phillipou highlight package as they transitioned into the Gallagher interviewTsatas Phillipou or CMac is such an exciting set of options. Would be happy with any of them. Really warming to the idea of getting another high pick in too.
Really excited for tonight, will be fascinating.

Would be so fitting to put him in the number 2.If the Pou drops to us it will be highway robbery, all aboard the Pou wagon.

All of round 1So is it just round 1 or only top ten tonight?
Jeez - a few hours before the draft he drops that bombshell. 147 pages of postings totally wasted. Sack him!!!What's this s.hit about Phillipou being a FIGJAM? Just heard him and he sounds like a well spoken young kid. FFS he is only 17, I like what I heard.
Banker confirmed - Phillipou, Tsatas or CMAC will be the go.
