I’m really not a fan of taking a guy like that with such a high pick but I think you’re right about the gaff comparison. He was bagged by plenty including me as a seagull who couldn‘t kick over a jam tin but he was still a very good player and hard to stop.

Gaff was never a seagull. His contested ball numbers were better than most of our mids.

Happy to be corrected but I’m pretty sure he often rated very highly in uncontested ball and turnovers.

I think you would struggle to find a mid with lower contested numbers than Gaff

Even Seb Ross, who has always been a poor contested player would average more than Gaff

In his interview he acknowledges his inconsistency and says he struggled moving from team to team (implying he had different roles in each team and also the WA boys threw the magnets around after an uninspiring start to the championships). I wasI expect him t very surprised by his level of maturity and eloquence. I do like Hewett, but not at 10, and not for next years first.

I still think Busslinger is a chance to go top 10 as well which would not only really open up the options at our pick, but energize other clubs looking to trade into the top 10 as well.

I expect him to be a top 10 pick , missed half a season and made the All Australian team as CHB - tall key position player's are harder to find than the dozens of midfielders being touted - will be interested where he is picked at.
I fully expect us to pick a midfielder knowing the talent available but Busslinger can be the Naughton of this draft and whoever picks him up will be more than happy and it could well be Geelong with there first pick.

If we can't get a Crouch-Wood-Pou or Crouch-Steele-Pou trio going we are going to regret it for years.

Letting go of Long and Brown over the years has just made things even more desperate IMO

Imagine a line of Long-Brown-Pou? We will have to settle I guess

I think youre asking if Burgiel is rated around the same pick in the phantom drafts.

He is 29 in most ive seen (one before Hotton)

Going by that interview would be banking on next years first going for another pick in the teens.. My bet is Sydney’s pick

Whoever we draft everyone needs to remember they are just a 17/18 year old kid trying to make it in the AFL and they don't choose who drafts them. Some of them might even read this forum so try to be kind!
