So basically, when I was having a hissy fit a few weeks ago and everyone told me to chill, that there was a plan, there actually was.

I'd say I will learn from this, but I'm probably too old to do that :p

So how does that leave our maximum and minimum picks for the National draft?

Minimum one pick still I believe, maximum three picks

Leaves us with a lot of flexibility to trade back into the draft

Did I not tell you we would be attempting to get back into this draft if a deal can be done at the right price for 2 players of interest, mind you it won't be both.

Means we can either trade into the draft, or pick a DFA, and still have room for Michalanney, Butts and Strachan.

We can re-structure the list into 36/6 37/5 or 38/4. So more flexibility come draft day(s)

List spots update

View attachment 1551147

The move has shifted our free rookie spots into possible free rookie or main draft spots depending on the list configuration we want
Seeds and McPherson are delisted. Not moved to the rookie list. We now have commited to select them in the rookie draft so technically they are not there yet.

So effectively, if Phillipou slides we could trade in to get him. If we do, it will be him and MM + 1 DFA or rookie pick

If not, there is one other player we are looking at we could trade in for, so player X and MM + 1 DFA or rookie pick

If neither happens, it might be MM and then 2 rookie picks?

Does that sound right? Trying to get it clear in my head because I know my dad will ring tonight to ask!

Correct.

It's Michalanney + 2

That 2 can be split however we like.

I agree, it's difficult to say the club didn't plan or want a rebuild while at the same time we delisted or traded out most of our senior players over a 2-3 year period.

It's not an accident we gutted the list and have one of the youngest squads
As soon as you go from one of the oldest lists to the clear youngest that’s a direct sign you’re in a rebuild no matter what you might say publically

Hawks are the next team to do it next year ( after years of hedging their bets and being half keen on the Geelong model )

West coast will eventually do it ( they should be doing it sooner )

Hopefully this means we have a few teams lined up in the first round to trade with if Phillipou slides. If he gets to the mid to late teens then we may be able to use Norths 2nd round pick for next year as a straight swap

If it turns out to be Phillipou surely the swap will be with Carlton for next years first. They indicated they would be open to trading 10 - and hard to see Phillipou getting out to 14 plus

Could add an extra row and re-jig (& leave out the Cat.B's)...

Makes it clearer how many live picks we could take into the ND (not that I think we try to get any more picks before the start).
