I suppose we need to find a developing ruck and a pick in the late 20-30s in this draft wouldn’t be too much of a cost. I’m just thankful they’ve finally decided to look for one , it’s a joke during a rebuild we don’t have one

Can’t get it all done in each draft I guess , gradual thing

I was being a bit harsh on his marking , he’s shown an ability , although inconsistent

The vic country game in good conditions he took a few contested marks and that was his best game I saw … and it was pretty good TBH

The other champs games were a fair level below

He’s clean skills-wise for his height, for sure

Yeah I’d have Verrall as a more dynamic, but a riskier prospect

Not too much wrong with the prodigious leap/athleticism and overhead marking/field kicking there.

If Verrall is due to go late or rookie, could we pick up both? We currently have no developing rucks on the list, having 2 developing and competing against each other isn’t a bad thing. Plus no guarantee either will make it.

But with 5 on the bench, they both looked agile enough with a decent kick they could in time both play in the same side and share ruck and forward line roles.

FWIW I like Barnett as a 25-30 selection, if it means giving up a single second rounder (preferably ours but I don’t really care in the scheme of things), I’m all for it

I like Verrall a lot too, I’m more in the camp that Verrall is underrated rather than Barnett is overrated. They’re pretty close I reckon, with Barnett a bit ahead

If Verrall can truely play as a backman too I would be more inclined to go that way.
