Last night is another example how elite mids wins you Finals games. Neale was on another level.

No coincidence that when Prestia went down, that Neale took his game to even another higher level.

Until we get elite mids and bat somewhat deep in this area, we wont win another flag.

If JHF is a possible option we have to roll the dice here.

Only because Dima was the only Coach in the last 4 weeks, NOT to tag Neale

There’s no reason to think Sam Berry can’t get to that elite level based on what he’s produced so far.

Simple comparison, what would Baker fetch on the trade table compared to McHenry? How many clubs would want Baker and how many McHenry?
McHenry - 2 1/2 years younger than Baker - 179cm ......40 less games - 3rd AFL season

Baker - 173cm - 40 more games - 5th AFL season

McHenry showing more at same stage of career

100% I do love Berry and dont disagree with you here.

Ive been punting on him a lot this year, so naturally aside from watching Crows games, Ive been playing a lot of attention to him. A lot to like about him, I could easily see him being as a part of our premiership side. I dont say that about too many Crows players outside the obvious ones.

He is IMO already at an above average level. Great tackler.

Interesting perspective, I seem to remember you being exceptionally high on Callow in his draft year.

BTW I have no current opinion on him. Think the last time I saw him a was the game he dominated our SANFL team. But haven't seen a kick since
I saw that game, cleaned up on McAsey, perhaps over inflated bits ability?

On SM-F926B using BigFooty.com mobile app

Did a pre season at the Hawks who didn't take him in the pre season sign on period, then picked him up MSD, gave him a good run for 18 months but he's not AFL standard.

We don't need list cloggers either.
this is why i hate the draft - this guy was so highly rated by draft experts (like a-francis, galluci etc) now where is he

Maybe as a Half back but doesn't have enough tricks to make it as a Half Forward at AFL level IMO, his one wood is overhead marking and a pretty reasonable kik.

I don't think Callow was ever spoken about as a 1st rounder like Francis who was spoken about as a top 5 pick and Gallucci a later 1st round pick more as draft chance later in the draft.?

Didn't Pkye request this?
7 years later and Hamish still hasn't delivered.
Imagine sending the apprentice's to the hardware store and asking them to pick up a chainsaw that's already been paid for and they return with an axe
Then you send them back again and they return with a set of steak knives.
Goes again and gets a hacksaw.
Lets give it another go and gets a bandsaw.
Next trip they come back with a whipper snipper.

How long does one wait in hope before you realise the guys aren't cut out for the job.
Chayce Jones and Will Hamill both sub 3.00 second runners and tested extremely well for agility...athletically Jones lit up the combine.

Is it fair to suggest Jones has struggled, pace wise, to carry the extra muscle ? .....that said, there was one passage of play late season, where he put the after-burners on and showed there is latent pace

Crouch ....younger, same player type ....you'd have to believe a similar trade value

But any Mitchell deal won’t be a fire sale. The Hawks are adamant they won’t be done over in a trade for the sake of moving him on.

Hawthorn will only part with Tom Mitchell for the right price as both parties consider a deal with another club.
Collingwood is one club watching closely, but the Magpies aren’t banging down the door for the clearance winner.

The Magpies will weigh up whether he could fit into their system and salary cap, but any deal is currently a long way off from happening.

Mitchell, 29, is on more than $700,000 at Hawthorn next season. He would likely command a top-30 pick in any trade

That's the problem with pre draft profiles, about 30 kids are written up as guns. We unfortunately seem to pick the ones who aren't guns.

Port, Brisbane and Swans thank us for saving them from wasting a first rounder. After we took Gooch, within a few picks Port took SPP, Brisbane Jarrod Berry and Swans Will Hayward

This years top 30 sound really good as well! But we may not have to worry about that

In fairness the last couple of drafts look better. Guys like thilthorpe, rachele, berry, taylor, nankervis all look to be promising and all have a high skill level

2021: Rachele and Soligo ✅ Taylor looking good

2020: Thilthorpe and Berry ✅ Pedlar and Cook both showing decent signs, Rowe ❌

2019: Schoenberg and Worrell ✅ Gollant has shown good signs, McAsey and O’Connor ❌

Our recent drafting has been fairly strong.

I still think O'Connor was a bit stiff not to get another year even if it was the rookie list, was showing good signs in the SANFL and had limited T.O.G. in the 2 AFL games he played, the other as an used sub. Really started to find his feet in the WAFL this year where he's started finding plenty of the footy.
