I am shocked people are upset Frampton is leaving.

We tried him up forward, he failed spectacularly. We tried him down back and he failed except for one game against an 18 year old.

He clearly can play well at SANFL level but once he plays seniors he shits the bed and the form does not translate.

Happy to move him on and good luck to Collingwood but I suspect they will find out how soft he is and opposition teams will play through his opponent.

In regards to Dawson up the field, we have seen he needs time and space to deliver. He is wasted around congestion unless we start playing a less stoppage based gameplan.

Some of his kickouts are absolutely elite and open up the game. Do we really want to go back to Smith pretending to look for options for 10 seconds then bang it down the right hand side? No thanks.

It doesn't mean he can't go for a run up the field for a handball receive and deliver the ball inside 50. We should look to cover his opponent when he goes for a gallop so we get the best of both worlds.

Have you been watching him in the sanfl all year?..

He is an absolute gun in that league.

We have literally won a shitload of our games due to him being an absolute general in defense. And… He sets up so much play.

He only became a KPD halfway through last year.. he’s played about 5 AFL games as a KPD.. one he dominated in.. 1 he got destroyed in (not that it was all his fault though) and the others he played alright in..

His 1v1 defending has definitely been improving but it still remains to be seen whether he can solidify himself as a very good AFL level KPD..

Guess it looks like we’ll see if he can.. just in a pies guernsey..

My worry is that we have ZERO KPD depth and that if we get rid of Frampton and one of Butts or Murray goes down we will be completely fxxked. And they way Murray throws himself around its almost a given!

Some might say “oh, but we’ll just trade in a fringe KPD from another club to replace him”… whats the point of that?.. we might as well just stick with Frampton if we’re gonna do that!

And I think our SANFL team will also suffer next year.. wouldnt you rather we be developing our youth in a competitive side over a side thats struggling?..

he is not a KPD stop looking at his height. you need to defend to be a KPD

he is not at the level required in our AFL team he needs to leave as do rowe, murphy, mchenry

brown and seed sadly will need to retire and be paid out

We currently have 45 only the list - 37 on the senior (main) list. Turner doesn't actually "own" a position on the list - he's basically just filling a vacancy created by moving Seedsman to the LTI list. LTI listed players come back off the list at the end of the season.

Thanks for clarifying

Really? 2 x Premiership winner & bonafide 2-way runner that fits the Nicks criteria, and he’s from SA?? And he’s 24….

How many years would we be required to give Frampton in order to keep him?

How many are Collingwood offering?

That game tonight looked like the future is small fast forward lines, and very mobile rucks who can kick and mark. Looks like Murray will be training with the rucks to me and working on his pass kicking and fitness.
i suspect port know this and why they were tring out finlayson this year and both teams passed on grundy.

we have the smalls but they're not that fast so rankine will be important.

I'd agree re the small fwd threats .....both Cameron and Pickett looked dangerous

To me, what stood out was pressure is king ....and perfect football rarely happens in Finals .....the chaos kicks, often criticised by purists, benefit those small fwds

I can see Keays thriving in Finals .....and I don't see his kicking as big a negative as many others .....for me it's a case of his strengths outweighing his weakness's

IMO Nicks is on the right path, looking to develop a high pressure game

Players like Jackson, English, Draper, and Grundy ...will make ROB look like a dinosaur

IF ROB can get some sort of consistency in his marking ....he match's ok with Gawn, Big O, Darcy, Nankervis, and Lycett

I don't like Frampton, but wish we were keeping him for depth (plug and play) and SANFL structure.

He really is on the edge of high calibre SANFL/AFL player.

Plus the risk he becomes decent with Collingwood.

Wouldn't mind keeping him for two/three more years.

Why would we want to?

At this point the only question is whether Collingwood give us a 4th round pick for him, or wait to sign him as a DFA.

List mathematics means there's no way we could keep him, even if we wanted to - and there's no conceivable reason why we would want to keep him.

Soligo will thrive in finals. Is able to make decisions and execute under pressure.

Mobile ruck who can mark and kick.

Rob - nope
Strauchan - yes but not a great mark and a bit lumbering
If only we had a 200cm+ player who could mark and kick the ball well. Oh yeah we have Frampton and Thilthorpe...

I was surprised to read that ROB was on 650k per year. Im not sure why we couldn't have looked at trading him and taking on Grundy if the Pies were willing to pay $300k of his million dollar salary. I know there is a big age difference but I wonder if we considered it.

Melbourne bowing out last night fixes their first, that we gave for Dawson, at pick 14, before F/S and possible PP.

Great trade for us and Swans would be happier now than they were mid season when Melbourne looked unbeatable and it was looking like pick 18.

Grundy a big upgrade on ROB but no one is interested in ROB

Agree with this he can dominate a game, on contract so send him off to Fog’s mind coach.

Officially he is a rookie, but we need to resolve our list numbers back to the right levels by the final list lodgement.
