List Mgmt. 2022 List Management and trading thread

I saw this format on the West Coast board and thought it might help understand our current list position

Reflects the conservative state ....and old fashioned footy thinking

We're followers ....not innovators, as Neil Craig tried to have us believe

We'll build slow and steady .....then two players we've developed will chase big $$$ .....and the cycle recommences

PORT at least go for the ring !

We are far worse than that.
We go through cycles which tells me we stuff up then bring in some new people who start to fix the joint but the old guard behind the scenes seem to make decisions to screw everything up so the good people leave and we left with incompetency, rinse and repeat.

We promote incompetent people to important positions without any track record who embraced the entitled boys club mentality all the way down into the playing group.

We get lucky from time to time when someone elite wants to return to S.A.
I come to the conclusion it has very little to do with our management.
Burgess for example.
Jarman another.
Dawson and Rankine.

We seem unable to entice anyone to come who is of any significance at any level

The fact that 3 out of the 4 you have mentioned have happened since the internal review gives me some faith.

You don't think that's due to other factors?
Go read there reasons and put 2+2 together.

Betts only left because Malthouse was in self destruct mode at Carlton and it was between us and NM

With Francis requesting a trade to Sydney do we get in the ear of Gould? Francis probably not ahead of him in the pecking order but string if he strings a few together you never know.

I doubt he'd be eligible for our reserves side after he's delisted by Sydney.

We got Burgess - great get. We got the Hawks CEO off the back of their most successful era ever

We make a lot of mistakes too - but so does everyone else

Davis 6-7 years on the list
Havent drafted a project ruckmen since when?
Cant make list changes because there's so few uncontracted players.

Surely with our cap space we would be going to Bowes keep your $800k for 2 years and sign a 2 year deal only, if he wants a longer term deal give him a reasonable rate for years 3 & 4. We are effectively buying pick 7 but getting a decent mid.

Then we use 7 on Phillipou.

I hope like hell we have gone hard for him, if we haven’t, then ****.
