Both Rankine and JHF were way more physically developed than Mataes at the same age.....Mataes has way more upside than any mid that will be taken in the 1st round just on age and his physical development still to come.

Pick 5 + Second Round + M Crouch = JHF (could throw McAsey in too, but not sure if he has ANY value).

Sholl, Crouch and McAsey have close to zero trade value in a deal like that.

so it’s sanfl all year for him next year..

he’ll get 40+ touches a game and dominate.. probably win the magarey..

the freeing up of the list spot would be handy.. but if he can help our sanfl side be competitive again in 2023 that can only help with the development of our juniors..

hell.. Keays and Sloane can fxxkn join him down there for all I care..

I would prefer us to pay crouch out (if we can't trade him) and free up the list spot otherwise they will play him in the midfield all year in the SANFL preventing us from playing a younger mid in there to develop.

Unless Port can't arrange the necessary trade capital to meet the Roos needs, he is Port bound.

Agreed. Not necessarily on the specifics but that we roll up and put the best offer we're willing to give up on the table. Long shot but North could try and push him our way. Regardless it drives up Port's offer.
