Yeah we’ve definitely put ourselves in a hole in regards to list spots. Should be looking to improve the quality of the list more than we seem to be, from an overall perspective (the individual inclusion of Rankine is superb, but the work shouldn’t stop there IMO)Not sure how I feel about our off-season assuming nothing further is to really happen.
Rankine is is a great get but the lack of list turnover / picks in the coming draft for a team that hasn't been competitive in so long and is meant to be in re-build mode just doesn't seem right. With the way we're going, we really should be far more competitive next year and pushing for the 8 otherwise I feel we've made a mistake on the list management side of things.
100% this. JHF is going to be a super player - no doubt and he is in the environment he wanted to be in.JHF failed deal last year may is a blessing, I think.

Adelaide offered three first-round picks for the No.1 pick last year to take Jason Horne-Francis. The Crows have ended up using those picks on Josh Rachele (No.6 in 2021), Jordan Dawson (a future first-rounder in 2021) and Izak Rankine (No.5 in 2022).

True..but Port can never be accused of not working to get what they want and generally making it worki assume cal will show what port lost at end of next year too which might make for interesting reading
Yep, among that bunch you have an A grader and a couple of potential A graders (IMO likely to get there, based off what I’ve seen)100% this. JHF is going to be a super player - no doubt and he is in the environment he wanted to be in.
BUT, Dawson is and will be for us an absolute A grade player. Rachele has the makings of a very very good player and Rankine is the equal of that or maybe even better again. Lets be happy with what we have as these 3 are top drawer players with 2 that will end up midfield at least for part of their time

Not happening, not worth discussingA Grundy play !? Instantly makes our midfield competitive with a forward line ready to fire
Dawson needs space to use his elite disposal. Keays looked great at HF against Carlton so I'd give him a go there ahead of McHenry and Murphy. Why don’t we use Dawson in the midfield? 192cm line breaker with amazing skills by foot.
If we aren’t going to go out and find what we need, we need to have the courage to adjust the team to work.
Keays to the forward flank. Sloane to the wing. Laird to spend time at half back to allow a better midfield mix.
Depending on Milera’s form. He is another midfield rotation option.
Agreed. I would also throw Milera on the table. He must have a fair bit of trade value at this time. I hope a strong preseason help him get back to where he was.Thats because he's a good player?

North saying no is looking equally bad as well.Whoever thought it was a good idea proposing that deal should be sacked.
North saves us from ourselves if true.
Have a bex & lie down...

The unknown would have been if we had done 2021 1st, 2022 1st and Melbourne 1st for pick 1 and 2022 pick 19, would have been that pick 19 probably goes to Sydney for Dawson with maybe a sweetener - it would be only a few picks down from the Melbourne 1st they would have assumed at the time of the trade. So it could be looked at that we got JHF and Dawson instead of Rachele Dawson and RankineWhoever thought it was a good idea proposing that deal should be sacked.

Likewise, your picks 8 & 12 may well get Busslinger and another top rated WA lad and Ports F2 and F3 are in a stronger draft and will be valuable picks in their own right..WCE can get some high end local quality in as part of the rebuildYou sure have some “interesting” supporters
Quite jealous tbh, Rankine, Rachele, TT and Fog
I think Rankine and Rachele have the capacity to become midfielders. Get another preseason into Schoenberg and Berry and Soligo plus Burgess getting to work on sme of the others (ie Pedlar and Cook) and things are definitely progressing wellAnd salary cap space in the coming years for midfield targets through FA

I get trading for the future but the only other high-marking medium forward on the list like him is Gollant and the jury is well and truly still out on him. McAdam is an integral part of our forward set-up so I'm all for keeping him.We should have looked at putting McAdam on the trade table while he has currency. I feel he has a considerable amount.

noThinking on it a bit, if they plan to use Izak as an outside mid and roll forward and we have Dawson and Soligo as our other quality users on the outside, is there still a place for M Crouch in the guts as we will need the ball winners to get the ball to the outside of the contest. I suppose I am saying we look to have some real quality we can play on the wings in terms of speed and ball use, maybe the in the guts players need to be the laird / Crouch types that get it 35 times a game and handball it or kick it to the outside
Just musing

He was very impressive in the u18s championships that rankine and lukosios starred in, in 2018Hoping all is not lost on Hately
It won’t help us this year as it will go on Michalanney anyway and next year we need picks for the player turnoverJust wondering why the Crows wouldn't take picks 50 and 51 for Frampton and then package picks 46, 50 and 51 for Lions picks 34 and 56 which would give the Lions an extra 127 points for Ashcroft and Fletcher and push us up to 2 picks in the second round. Having picks 23,34 and 56 is better than picks 23 and 46.

Its just looking at how it might have unfolded had North taken our deal with their 2022 2nd coming back to us
