Has he been able to play much this year?
Played a couple of games for Hampton Rovers in the VAFA and of course the 2 Young Guns games where he impressed. Also on Richmond's VFL list.

On debut for Richmond VFL today their clash against the Sydney Swans VFL side.

If you have the VFL app the game will be live streamed from 2.05.

Anyone hear Roo and Ditts this morning, reckon Tex has a 2 year offer on the table for a contending club.

Any guesses who? Maybe the Saints?

Would be bullshit. Remember they said the same about Thommo end of 2016. Tex is chasing an early extension and this is designed to apply public pressure.

Carrigan unsighted

D'Ambrosio apparently dislocated shoulder

Cant really see Tex pulling up all his roots and making himself and his wife and their very young family move interstate all just to get in one more year of footy.. considering the crows will almost definately give him a contract for next year and will definitely look at another if his form and fitness deserves it..

It would just be stupid.

One last adventure? What could be more exciting

Ahh the sneaky manager whisper

See ya Tex

Interestingly, it managed to leak out last year that Tex wanted to get an extension done sooner rather than later just as his form was trending downwards. And wow, what a shock, 2 down games where he’s labouring a bit across the ground and here we are again. Straight out of the Thommo playbook. And you’ll hear it again next year as soon as Sloane has a decent fortnight.

Excuse the intrusion. What has happened to Matt Crouch?

Matt is a victim of his own limitations. Very one dimensional, cannot play a dual position. Slow, cannot spread from the contest, doesn’t defend and has zero kick penetration.

His selection restricts cbas to our young mids , thus hampering their development, and prolonging our rebuild. Sad, but true

I hope Hamish and co are watching todays game, Sam De Koning was taken at pick 19 in 2019, the same draft we took 'the best kpd prospect', Fischer McAsey at pick 6. Never mind the fact one is killing it in the AFL and ones barely impacting the Sanfl, if you can't see a raw talent like De Koning and the upside he has in the current way the game is going then maybe recruiting has gone past you. Pick 6 was our highest ever pick at that point and we were screaming out for midfielders, but we take a kpd with limited upside.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

The fact is that McAsey was universally acknowledged as the best KPD prospect in his draft year. The fact that he hasn't developed anywhere near as well as we'd hoped is unfortunate, but the decision to draft McAsey instead of De Koning was the right one to make at the time.

Recruiters can't make decisions based on how players perform 3 years after a player is drafted - they can only judge them by what they produce before they're drafted.

One of the talents of the better draft watchers is projecting what a player can indeed bring in 3 years time

The commentary around Ebert/Dangerfield was ''one is ready to play today'' v ' half back flanker who could be a good midfielder - once he finishes school'

Rendell got it right

Call it hindsight, thats a nice way of giving Hamish and co a scapegoat. Good recruiters should be able to see a players projection though.

De Koning was the AA full back anyway so its not like he was a complete unknown.

Some of our play is not even SANFL reserves level..the kicking and my god the tackling..i lost count this quarter of the number of times we grab a player and their arms are free and they just hsndball off AND HIT a clean hsndpass to a team mate..not at their feet or over their heads but to them. Its just horrible and frustrating in the extreme to watch

Way too much emphasis on form vs kids. Surely even though he had played well people could see that he was slow, not very agile and unathletic and would it would be a completely different story in the pace of AFL.

Only needed to see him in his first preseason game again Port at Thebby. Had a 4 metre start on an opposition player and was beaten to the ball. A bust from day one

The problem with your argument is that there's not a single recruiter who would have chosen De Koning ahead of McAsey.

Making that decision requires the benefit of 20/20 hindsight... and last time I checked, Hamish didn't have access to a TARDIS.

This is pretty much spot on

Thing is back in 2017 we had an open, fast ball movement game style that disguised his limitations and emphasised his talents. He could extract, pass it off and others would zoom zoom the ball all over the park - his slow, indecisive decision making was compensated by other players and style.

In a lot of ways he was first cog in a very fast engine. Now we don’t have anything to plug him into, and without that very specific approach to playing he’s a liability.

It’s not so much where has 2017 Crouch gone, as it is where has the team and game plan around him gone?

He’s no good except in a certain type of team that very specifically plays to his strengths.

And that team was flawed and isn’t coming back even if we wanted it too. No cattle and different coaching

Maybe we were the only club to rate McAsey over De Koning? Its not like he was rated as a generational kpd.

You have NFI whether that is true. Literally NFI so why try to pass it off as fact?
