McAsey since moving forward, and Himmelberg, have both averaged the same amount of goals per game in the SANFL this year

What would you habe preferred we did here?

I don't have a major issue with it. We need back up. If it's not him it's likely some state leaguer with similar output and ceiling who has never been in an AFL club before.

I think there are some things we as supporters don't think about.

There's only so much time coaches can spend with players. We already have the youngest list in the comp, resources are stretched. Himmelberg around the club could be seen almost as a set and forget back up with similar output to anyone new.

While I personally would have delisted Himmelberg, I could understand giving him a one year standard depth contract or moving him to the rookie list

I don't understand what he has done after six years on our list to warrant a two year deal

Yeah, 1 would have been nice. Potentially he's taken less money per year for an extra year.

Nah. When he plays they want to make sure he’s ready. Has the game that can light up the AFL. Talked up Taylor too, will get game time next year.

Asked about McAsey, not all players develop the same etc.
Nicks was very positive about Newchurch and Taylor .....2023 debut coming

From titbits I've heard via the media ....again, it's the defensive aspects of the game, Taylor is learning :whitecheck:

By the end of next year there will be complaints that he is signed up for another year. A 2 year deal for a depth player with our list profile is completely unnecessary
I think this just shows that there was interest from another club. Probably offering 2 years we match it to keep him on minimum chips as a KPF/ruck.

Good move

My disdain of Frampton, centres around an AFL game where he "gave up" on contesting 2nd efforts ......he's fine, if the game is on his terms

However a DEF has to be capable of competing, where FWD's are making repeated leads ......Frampton gives up, hence why he's been banished to the SANFL
Ah yes the Carlton game when he was on Curnow..

Strange that most concentrated solely on Frampton’s game that day..

And completely ignored the total capitulation of our midfield that day.. which allowed the Blues to break their hundred or so year club record for inside 50 entries!..

Our midfield completely gave up and on numerous occassions that day “gave up” on even bothering to put in first efforts.

Little wonder Frampton and the rest of our defense “gave up” that day.. it was Frampton that copped it the most for it all though.

Let's say we Draft / Trade for another Tall KPF this year .....it'll be 2 years B4 they're truly up to speed, given any potential player would not be an "A" grader

Yep ....last game Frampton played against the Blues .....enough angst from the DEF Coach to overlook him for the next 14 rounds

Coaches could have brought Frampton in, rather than Worrell ......IMO that Blues game finally stamped his papers

IMO we've put some names out there to see if there are any nibbles, but I highly doubt we'll trade McAsey this year unless a substantial offer comes in, min 2nd round. We basically have a free hit to see how he develops further next year, but I don't hold out much hope. If Frampton goes you'd imagine McAsey swings back to KPD next year.

Vader Few questions, if you don't mind.

1) Max Michalanney would be a Cat A rookie if we brought him in, but Keeler would be Cat B. Would that mean we'd need to move on one of Borlase or Newchurch or is there some flexibility in moving one of those players to the general Rookie list? Not sure how that works..
2) Delisting Davis and Turner opens up at least 2 spots on the Rookie list, but trading Crouch/Frampton/Rowe opens up 3 on the main list, which means we could move Butts/Murray/Strachan off the Rookie list and onto the main list, effectively having 5 rookie list spots available?
3) Do Butts/Murray/Strachan have to come off the R list at some stage?
4) Obviously bringing in players like Rankine/JHF this year complicates things as well, as they would surely take up list spots on the main list, yeah?

Seems like we have a fair bit of flexibility, even if some trades do/don't happen this year.

The disdain for frampton around here by some is hilarious..

Frampton is nearly always our best player in the SANFL week after week.. clearly you dont actually watch the SANFL games.

Given our KPD stocks it is highly doubtful they would simply delist Frampton..

We have literally no one else if Butts or Murray went down.. borlase maybe but he’s nowhere near as good as Frampton.

The rumour is that the Pies are actually chasing Frampton and Volbeat, who gets very reliable intel, has said the deal between the crows and pies on Frampton is all but done already..

If this is true I hope we can trade in or pick a KPD this season or else our KPD depth next year will be pretty much nonexistant.
I don't think anyone has questioned Frampton's ability to perform at SANFL level - but he's been shown up every single time he's been played at AFL level. He's failed in the ruck, as a KPF and as a KPD. There is literally nowhere else to play him at AFL level.

Frampton appears destined to be one of those players who is/was too good for SANFL, but not good enough for AFL. Think of him as a taller version of Mitch Grigg.

If Collingwood want to make him their problem, then good for them. They can probably have him as a DFA, or they can give us a token late round pick if they want to get him into their system earlier than that. I can't see Adelaide causing any problems at the trade table, when it comes to getting Frampton off our books. GC were good enough to take Atkins off our hands, Brisbane took CEY, and now Collingwood look likely to take Frampton. Getting another dud off our books is entirely a good thing.

1) Both Michalanney and Keeler would be eligible for Cat B rookie status... but only if they're not selected in the ND - which appears unlikely. I believe we're allowed up to 3x Cat B rookies on the list, so in the hypothetical (unlikely) event that both made it through the ND then yes, we'd need to upgrade one of Borlase/Newchurch (or move them to the Cat A rookie list).
2) Not quite right. Turner is occupying a vacancy created when we placed Seedsman on the LTI list. Delisting him does not create a vacancy on the rookie list. Otherwise, your mathematics appears to be correct.
3) Butts & Strachan both need to be moved to the senior list this year. Murray can wait another 12 months.
4) Absolutely Rankine & JHF would take up senior list positions.

I think it is also likely that Seedsman will be moved to the rookie list, and thence to the inactive list, thus freeing up an additional position on the senior list. His rookie list position would then be filled via the PSSP or MSD, rather than the RD.

Note also that rookie promotions (Butts & Strachan) count towards the minimum 3x ND selections. It's quite possible that Adelaide will only make 1 or 2 ND selections this year, filling the other senior list vacancies via trading & rookie upgrades.

The club is clearly banking on the AFL increasing list sizes by 2 positions, restoring list sizes to pre-COVID levels.

He’s played about 4 games at AFL level as a KPD..

1 against the dogs that he completely dominated in

1 against carlton manning up on an in form Curnow who, at the time, had been destroying the comps best defenders and a game in which our midfield completely laid down and allowed the carlton midfield to get 75 inside 50’s..

And a couple of others where he did ok.

I admit he has his flaws.. but he’s good depth.. and depth is something we need..

So, like I said, its very unlikely he will be delisted as Wayne and you in the past have suggested.. we will either hold onto him as depth or he will request to be traded elsewhere for more opportunity.

And when it comes to KP players.. your opinion is hardly to be taken seriously given your laughable stance on Fogarty. have you conceeded you were completely wrong yet?

He's not good depth at AFL level. Take off your rose coloured glasses. His performances at AFL level have been deplorable.

What precisely was I wrong about, with Fogarty? That he needed to dramatically improve his fitness & work rate? I believe those comments have been 100% vindicated by his current form.

Was his game against the dogs deplorable was it?..

Was he solely responsible for Curnow’s sucessful game was he?..

He’s only played another 2 games as a KPD at AFL level.. and he didnt go too bad in those.

Once again you’ve carrying on like he’s played a heap of games as an AFL KPD when its a basic fact that he hasn’t.

So we get rid of Frampton, just to suit you, and first round next year Butts goes down with a knee..

Who comes in?

I don't know who they have their eyes on. I didn't see them getting Keays either, or many of our other trade targets either, so not knowing who the club is interested in is no great surprise to me (or anyone else). Whoever they get, they will have a non-zero chance of making it at AFL level, which instantly puts them ahead of Frampton.

So.. at this point no one?..

Sounds like a plan.
