If Rankine plays mid you could play McAdam, Rachele, Newchurch up forward.
Possible as I expect both Rankine & Rachele to be part of midfield rotations.

Or Rankine & Rachele...

Can see them trading party tricks.
Rankine, Rachele, McAdam, and Newchurch, add a massive amount of pace to the team .....the thought is exciting

Also, all natural goal kickers ;)
Not a bad direction, many supporters claim is too defensive under Nicks

It's just the stages of a developing team .....we're working off the Paul Roo's model, defence B4 offence.....HAW are starting with offence 1st and then hopefully adding defence ?

The amount that ROB gets blasted on here is ridiculous. He’s a slightly better than average Ruck and Premierships have been won with less

4th highest paid player serving up the season he did?

Yeah he deserved every bit of criticism he got

No wonder they prefer to trade them away.

Walsh was a no brainier #1, but otherwise they are clueless.
Guess it's the standard topped up in rebuild phase then trade r1 picks for proven talent to give boost when you're going into your window.

...oh wait, you're referring to the quality of their selections

mind you, :$

Who is Paul Roo?

I am familiar with Paul Roos... former Fitzroy & Sydney player, premiership coach at Sydney. But who is Paul Roo?

We get scored on a lot for a defensively minded team

Not really.

Average points against:

North - 109
West Coast - 109
Essendon - 95
GWS - 88
Adelaide - 90
Hawthorn - 91

When you look at comparable teams our points against is around the mark. When you consider that we are the youngest and least experienced team of that group, and our backline is probably our youngest and least experienced area of the ground, relatively speaking we are not being scored on a lot.

I hope that's untrue that ROB is our 4th highest paid player.
I can tell you my eyeballs dilated when I saw he was. I mean if he was playing like he was in 2020 when he got his knees dirty at every ball up and took his marks...I'd have no issue but what he served up this year was underwhelming.

So Nicks will change the model of pushing small forwards up the ground around the contest and kicking down the line? And move Dawson to the wing?

I’m curious, what is he actually teaching them that will still be there when becomes more offensive like you are claiming?

Because our KPD's are young and questionable

Maybe I should have used the word "contested" minded, rather than “defensively” minded

George, you'll have to watch the variations as they occur .....as I've said, perfect explanation, but I doubt you'll agree with me, if I explain it again .....I have posted why recently

Dawson has nothing to do with Nicks current style .....and everything to do with protecting underperforming KPD's who are reasonably poor disposers of the ball ....and for that, also not great contested marks, albeit Murray is improving

The issue is Nicks method of winning the contest is numbers around the contest, do you see that changing? If not we will continue to be a dour team. If he does change, what has he taught them?

We can't be a dour team, if Rachele, Rankine, Milera, Newchurch, and McAdam are in the side

We have to improve our disposal in the off-season, to allow for the more dangerous 45 degree kicks, which allows us to cross tram tracks .....it's the next layer to be added to the contested brand

Our midfield experimentation opened up our DEF too often this year ....hence the need for a simple straight line style that protected the DEF .....well, tried to anyway

Soligo, Berry, Pedlar, and Schoenber, another PS to build strength & fitness .....Milera, hopefully slims down and isn't played FWD

What's Nicks taught them .....easy ! ....a contested brand of footy, that stands up in Finals ....versus the highly skilled side that got swept asise in the 2017 GF, by a contested brand footy team, RICH

Except we weren’t experimenting until after the Gold Coast game and our defence was opened up anyway.

A contested brand that is based on numbers around the ball by pushing up the small forwards, so when they disappear what he has taught the other players?

didnt richmond win on turnover as opposed to stoppage? we were still pretty damn contested in 2017 and highly skilled.

Do you think McAdam is only a forward? I like the way he moves and the relative freedom of the wing might allow him to "stretch his legs" a bit more.
Thoughts anyone...
I like when he spends times further up the ground. We need a couple to play the Lynch connector role. Sloane is another who could.

The problem is none of our midfielders apart from Berry and Laird are any good in the contest. Even Keays and Crouch win the majority of their possessions uncontested.

Add to that a bottom three first choice ruckman and you can see why we are forced to address the bleeding by throwing additional numbers into the contest.
