From what I've heard, Brown was quite willing to go now. Has been playing through pain the last two seasons.
Continuing to pick him despite the injuries in previous seasons wouldn't have helped him. Was never the same after that achilles injury.

Brown tapped on the shoulder and given a bag of gold i reckon to "retire" now, meaning he comes straight off the the lists creating a vacancy now. Still looks tightish on our list given we must upgrade players

Going by whe he signed I'd say it was highly likely his contract was front loaded which would help.

This is a distinct possibility. I can see both Crouch & the AFC trying desperately to find him a new home - but not finding any buyers.

He couldn't find any buyers as a FA, coming off a year out due to injury. His stocks have only fallen since then.

If he does stay, then his unexpected retention counters the unexpected departure of Brown, leaving us with a zero sum game.
I think.. The only way we find a serious buyer for crouch is if we agree to pay half his 2023 wage..

Which, to free a list spot up, I’m very happy for them to do..

We definitely have the cap space to entertain this.

With reduced list sizes remaining in place, I'm not sure we'd find a club willing to take him even under those conditions. They'd still need to be willing to use a senior list position on him, even if his wage is minimal (on their books).

I guess time will tell, one way or another...

What I see is 5 players being added to the senior list - Butts, Strachan, Rankine, 2x ND selections.

We will then have 2 or 3 rookie list positions to fill, depending on whether or not Turner is retained. Note that one of these will be filled via the PSSP or MSD, after Seedsman is moved to the rookie list and placed on the inactive list.
Yes, that's what I said.

I don't see a club in our position only making three genuine changes to our list.

The upgrading of players has zero net effect on our list, considering rookies have exactly the same ability to play as senior list players.

We're allowed a maximum of 42 players on the senior + cat A rookie lists. We currently have 43.

Seedsman was placed on the LTI list, which created a temporary vacancy, which was then filled via the MSD. Players come off the LTI list at the end of the season.
Surely Seedsman has to retire at this point..

A whole year out due to concussion at his age.. and he’s still suffering the effects of it.

Just ridiculous to even be considering trying to return especially at his age.. If he was to the start of his career maybe the thinking would/could/should be different.. but not at the back end of his career.

Imagine he comes back and cops another heavy knock to the head.. or even a minor one.. could effect his quality of life for the next 50 years.. if he lived that long.

AFC needs to take on the hard decision and tell the lad its over.. and they’ll look after him with a role of some sort at the club moving forward if he’s interested in hanging around the game....

It's still 5-6 changes - Rankine, 2x ND, 2-3x new rookies.

Yes, he'll retire - but the mechanism for that remains TBD (as it does with Brown).

Given that he's contracted for 2023, we'd need to include his 2023 salary in our 2002 cap, or we could give him the Gibbs treatment. I consider the latter to be more likely.

He's played his last game for the AFC - but he could well be on our list for salary cap purposes next year.

Hoping lists go back to 46 (Senior (38) and Rookies (6) plus 2 Cat B Rookies)

If thats the case we can draft 6 players

We could go

Senior - (35) Jones, Keays, McAsey, Murphy, Crouch, Hately, Thilthorpe, Rachele,Sloane, Pedlar, Dawson, Walker, Soligo, Cook, Hamill, Taylor, Hnge, Berry, McAdam, Worrell, McHenry, Schoenberg, Nankervis , Laird, Milera, Fogarty, Smith, Himmelberg, McPherson, Sholl, Doedee, Butts, Obrien, Gollant, Strachan,

Rookies - Murray, Parnell, Turner(3)

Cat B Rookie - Borlase, Newchurch

Bring in Rankine, Michalanney, Keeler and 3 more rookies.

It's still 5-6 changes - Rankine, 2x ND, 2-3x new rookies.

This seems unlikley to me.

We normally keep our rookie numbers high so we can have the salary cap benefits of $80k per player not counting against the cap.

But we're not anywhere near the cap next year, so a salary cap saving won't even register.

It's not worth not using a second round pick just to keep our rookie numbers high, when that has no benefit.

We'll run at 38 and 4, with Turner, Seedsman, Parnell and Murray as the four rookies.

Wowee those average age and average games played stats are going to take an even bigger hit. We absolutely need to prioritise experience at this stage.
