The modern sports world is all about giving athletes international exposure and for Australian athletes apart from the Olympics there is the Commonwealth games and the Asian games

Basketball is a team sport where the international leagues attract our best men & women.
Golf is another individual sport where our best have been amongst the best in the world for decades. Tennis, motorsport.

Another irrelevant cryptic post without any quality.

14.9 million people watched the soccer world cup final on BBC1 at its peak.

More than 52.7 million people didn't bother to watch the soccer world cup final on BBC1 even at its peak.
So that's twice the population of Australia didn't bother to watch the pinnacle of soccer in the UK.

For 2 non British countries to draw that sort of TV audience is very good, and the British people have a huge dislike of anything French and Argentinian.
Worldwide the TV audience would have been well over 100 million, Probably nearer 150 million

Suspect it's more than that.

However, it remains true that many many more people don't care about the world cup than do.

And this is true of all sports, which people involved in sport tend to forget.

AFL Grand final, NRL, SOO, world cup, Olympics.

More people don't care and don't watch than do.

yeah. The last 8 World Cup finals are around 250-500 Million mark. But it is complicated to count.

FIFA claimed to have 1.12 Billion watching the 2018 Final and 3.5 Billion during the whole tournament....but it's FIFA, so it is a very corrupt figure.

The biggest-ever TV rating for an Aussie sport was only 4 million out of a population of 20 mil. A lot of surveys, which ask do you watch or do you watch a team, seem to cap out at 50% of the population if you are lucky.

That was just the Ratings for BBC 1. Over 20 million when you take in ITV ratings as well

Only 4 million watching a sports event in Australia is only 1 in 6 of the population watching it, which means 5/6ths of the population wasn't interested in watching it

That's 20% of the population which makes the W.C. look amateur hour.

Obviously Maths is not your strong point. 4 million of 25 million (the population of Australia) is a 1/6th.
4 million of 20 million is 1/5th

25.978 as of June this year.

But it would depend on when the event was. It only reached 20 mill 2003/04. So if it was 20 years ago, it was 25%

However, modern society is much more fragmented now, doubt it reaches 25% ever again.

Nearly a million viewers tuned in to see Argentina down France in the FIFA World Cup Final on Monday morning, capping off a very successful season for SBS.
Not a bad effort for 2am in the morning. The FIFA World Cup has help SBS beat 10 the last 2 weeks in the ratings.

The rights for the 2026 world cup are still up for grabs. And see a huge bidding war for them, especially with Pay-TV and Sub-TV. The timezone will be early morning to early afternoon, as it is hosted in USA/Canada/Mexico.

You attack the man when you lose the debate.
I am in fact very secure in the knowledge that Australian Football is doing extremely well.
I am in fact very secure in the knowledge that Australian Football is doing extremely well. despite other sports doing well.

I am in fact very secure in the knowledge that Australian Football is doing extremely well. despite your pathetic attempts at trolling.
I won the debate as unlike you i backed up my claims with links unlike you
Where were the links to back up your claims?
I'm far from a troll. Unlike me, trolls don't back up their claims with links
You brought Australian football into the debate, nobody else did because of your fear of soccer and you are a very insecure person.
Finally have you worked out how %'s work yet? 🤣
