You'd think it wouldn't be Gold Coast because that would be hypocritical of them to poach a player from another club that had put four years into him etc etc
They wouldn't want a gold digger at their club

Tarryn Thomas fills such a glaring need in our midfield. I'd be willing throw a fair bit at this trade if we are in with a shot.

I had my lad with me at the MCG oneday in the late 90's and North blew us off the park in the first quarter. We had many North supporters around us and they were having a great time as you'd expect. Lots of loud cheering. Then, late in the quarter and after yet another North goal, my 6/7 year old lad bursts into tears and cries out "they can never catch up from here!"

I still occasionally goad him with having shed tears for the Crows. His usual comeback is not often charming.
I was there, it was a milestone game for Boomer Harvey from memory. We didn’t turn up.

If Thomas wants to go back to NSW - could a really high profile straight swap of players:

North Melbourne : Jacob Hopper
GWS - Tarryn Thomas

Reckon that was the game in 1999 after we won the premiership the previous year in 1998. Remember this game as I was there. We were never in it. It was a Mothers Day massacre.

I wrote earlier about why the Suns would probably not want a 2023 first.. given they have a couple of highly rated academy players next year that could go top 5/top 10..

Thats not really how the bidding system works. You cannot have more picks than list spots available to take those picks.

This rule was brought in in 2016 to stop clubs accumulating large numbers of late picks to use for academy and father-son bids. If you have 8 picks (trying to accumulate points) you need 8 free primary list spots going into the draft.

Therefore, if GC have multiple early bids to match they will need good value picks to do this. Alternatively, having a 2023 pick will allow them the option to trade this for a future first in 2024 if they want to go into deficit matching bids in 2023.
That rule doesn't exist anymore - it was eliminated during the COVID seasons.

it can be done. my son was born in melbourne and been a crows supporter since he was conscious of football living in melbourne the entire time.

played school and club footy, saw friends get drafted-goes to matches of all teams but always goes with me to our games in melbourne and adelaide.

key points for those with young sons:
  • take them to the footy very young. before they can walk
  • always go to supporter days when they are young to meet the players - photos and signatures
  • enter competitions to get your kid to run out as the mascot (unforgettable experience for a kid)
  • get them interested in stats
  • find other kids that are crows supporters in melbourne or wherever you are
  • threaten to not feed them if they dont follow adelaide 🤣
Our boy is named after two of our best players. He never had an option even though we live in QLD and he now lives in Melbourne. has photos of himself and two said players from two weeks of age until they respectively retired. Crows through and through!

Awesome. Kids names should be added to the retention success list 🤣
