Exactly right. The lack of authenticity is the concern. It’s come through on multiple occasions now . That is not the way to build a winning culture. Nicks needed to build the expectation that he would be honest from day 1 with players and not try to please everyone. A ‘pleaser’ coach can’t built a winning culture.

Literally every coach in every international sport has things they say publicly, as a way of deflecting unnecessary external attention. It's just basic media training.

Feel free to sling shit on Nicks if you have an ACTUAL thing to complain about.

Not much to tell. Just that the Pies are interested in him was what I heard. I would not expect he'd cost much of anything for them to bring in, Pies have 3 3rd round picks currently, might prefer to use one of those (with maybe us sending a future 4th back) on some depth, rather than another youngster is my guess. Certainly fits the mould of the type of tall, intercept defender that MaCrae seems to like to use and would provide cheap and ready replacement if a Moore, Howe, Maynard or Murphy type got hurt.

Frampton would have no value. They could probably just take him as a delisted free agent

He has been the best player in the sanfl side consistently for the last 8-10 weeks
Just because we played him out of position in the afl, if he played Doedee's position, he would have thrived.
He would be a good fit for the Bulldogs, I hope he gets another chance

Sure - but trading a third is pretty much the same thing, as they'd have to pass on that pick to be able to take him as a delistee.

Your right, he isn't a KPD,
I reckon he's an intercepting 3rd tall defender like Doedee plays.
But he has been one of the best for the sanfl, I wonder how he will go in the B&F this year

Read this 3 times and can’t follow your logic in any way ! Not every coach does this . No need at all for him to talk about him being part of the future. It’s not the first time either they nicks has said something that turns out to be a lie .his rationale for selections never usually stack up for example

As an aside here... Matt attended the banner making night last night (with three other junior players) and helped cut out letters. That actually surprised me (if this "he's chucking a hissy fit" thing is true). This doesn't sound like someone who is blindsided or angry.

I’d keep frampton on the list to be honest..

He dominates at SANFL level.. and can be used as “break glass” as a KPD.. a position we have absolutely no depth in at all..

Who currently comes in as a tall KPD if Butts and Murray go down??..

Borlase?.. he’s a likely delist.

There is literally no one else.

Atleast with Frampton dominating down back in the SANFL we are competitive at that level which helps with our player development..

He actually does dominate sanfl, yes he gets the ball, yes he has great disposal, that's so much more than what many of our other players are doing

sorry.. but you clearly dont watch the sanfl games if you think frampton doesnt dominate at that level..

he rarely gets beaten 1v1… and so he shouldnt.. the sanfl is a glorified ammo league these days.. Frampton‘s opponents are shite.

i’m sayimg he never plays AFL for us again unless its a desperate break glass situation.. but one look at our depth of KPD’s tells you that the cupboards bare. if Murray and Butts went down this weekend, say Murray gets a concussion and Butts does a hammy.. were looking at billy and borlase the following week.

thats pretty bleak.

and we certainly aint solving this little problem in one off season.. any draftee KPD will be miles off being ready next season and there aint much around in the way of potential KPD trade options this year.. unless we can somehow steal Cox from Freo (highly unlikely)

i can easily see Billy getting another 1 or 2 year contract at seasons end.. Nicksy rates Billy’s leadership in the SANFL and its not hard to see why.. he’s a general in defense back there…

unfortunately Billy is just one of those lads who cant consistently bring his strong SANFL game with him up to the next level.
