No I don't. when did I say that?

I want a 12 year key forward talent to look after our future than a 3 year ruck rental (Grundy) who can't play forward and solve our real problems.
You made a comment in a previous post about if we had Weid, Tmac and brown as our key forwards you would pull your hair out and you have been going on about how desperate we are for a key forward yet you want to bring in a skinny kid that will have no impact for a good 3 years.

I agree we need to sure up our forward line but drafting a kid in the top 15 won’t help us win a flag next year

It was posted on Collingwood boards as serious. I am ownee five so pwease forgive me.

I'm glad I made someone's day.
Please go back to them and say that it's 100% serious and the vast majority of the Melbourne board agrees with JK.

Johnny Karate. You'd have thought this was one of the more obvious joke posts on BigFooty, but apparently not!

Glad you posted it on the Collingwood board and you guys are having a discussion about it. Will have a look later. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
The subsequent posts are also really good.

The Melbourne board clearly operating with a higher level of comedy than the rest of BigFooty. 🧐

tbf if you read the Carlton board that is the sort of offseason they legit think they are having every year.

That board has been more hoodwinked by alleged ITK's than any.

I agree that bringing in a skinny kid won't help us next year win a flag. But either will Brown, TMac or Weid so may as well shore up our future.

At the very least a happy medium would be okay i.e bringing in a player that is still young. Bringing in guys like Breust and Gunston would greatly improve our chances of winning a flag but at the expense of winning future flags if we give away all of our draft picks.

Personally, I want sustained success and don't want to bottom out.

Seems port also keen on Grundy. I hope we have our eyes on another mature aged ruck to. We haven’t been linked to anyone other than Grundy. Otherwise it’s Weideman as second ruck next year. Or JVR if he’s up to that.

I think Adelaide were keen to get him a couple of years ago and Grundy said he wanted to stay in Melbourne over going home to SA. So I assume hes set up here and happy.

I agree we need to ensure we have a bright future, if we landed Breust or Gunston then I would have no issue going to the draft to get a young key forward.

Honestly if JVR does step up next year then him alongside either brown/Tmac, Fritsch and Breust/Gunston then it certainly looks better than what we currently have.

Unfortunately it’s not one of those years where we have a number of good key forwards on the move, unless something changes we may not have much of an option that to stick with what we have.

In the short term Grundy would be more beneficial to us than a young kid from the draft.

So I was floating by, reading the boards as I do sometimes and this misses the mark by a lot.

1). Collingwood is not going to be covering $400k or $500k of Grundy's salary.
2). Luke Jackson isn't going to West Coast in a forced trade. It will be a choice.
3). The Salem, Hunt, Bowey and Weideman trade flips four alright players into two elite and one potentially elite player. Maynard was AA this year; none of the four were. This would be amongst the worst in human history and Collingwood would not be coughing up their first rounder in a trade they're clearly losing.
4). Petty for Georgiades seems more realistic (it favours Port) but men can and should be allowed to cry without ruining a team spirit.
5). Jordon, Tomlinson, Sparrow, Spargo, Harmes and Melksham - that much list turnover???? Really???? That's what Norf and Gold Coast do after atrocious years. Not Melbourne. And then you're left drafting rookies in the second and third rounds? I think you've created cap space alright.
6). Bruest and Gunston would be unlikely to land at the club together.
7). I didn't realise AA players made good subs. He's playing ahead of a first rounder!
8). Weideman is listed as traded as well as playing on the bench.
9). Baker??? As well?

I hope I've missed a joke or something because that would be one of the dumbest trade periods for all parties involved.

A trade period of
IN: Baker, Grundy, Henry, Maynard, Breust, Gunston, Georgiades, 2x first rounders including Pick 2.
OUT: Salem, Hunt, Bowey, Weideman*, Jordon, Petty, Tomlinson, Sparrow, Spargo, Harmes, and Melksham.

***I'm not trying to be mean, either. But this was a post I couldn't not comment on.
Yeah he was joking, mate

Again with the 'three years' as if it's fact [emoji23]

I actually don't get this. If winning the next 4 flags in a row meant we would be wooden spooners for the 4 years straight after that I would do it in a heartbeat.

Pretty sure the team would still be pretty young and we have taken plenty of draft picks in the last 3-4 years. Not sure missing a year to trade in some senior players for a flag push would set us back

Johnny Karate. You'd have thought this was one of the more obvious joke posts on BigFooty, but apparently not!
I’m personally staggered about some of the feedback in there. Honestly, thinking about knocking another $100k off of Grundy’s deal now. I don’t see why Maynard wouldn’t want to play with Melbourne given that his brother was on the list a few years back. I also don’t see the problem with trading out Weideman to have him sit on the bench, to stay at the top you need to innovate. Further I don’t get why there’s such a hullabaloo over my 3 pronged ruck attack, Gawn can be the tap ruck or ruck ruck if you will, Grundy is the ruck ruck rover and Jackson is the rover ruck or crumbing ruck.

Anybody who can’t see the merit in having Petracca as sub has rocks in their head. There’s a reason that St Kilda overlooked him and that’s because he gets ahead of himself. In the 2021 Grand Final, he had 39 disposals and 2 goals, has he even got close to those numbers in a Grand Final since? Hell, even in that game he slacked off, in the third quarter with 47 seconds to go; he kicked a goal, won 3 clearances and was involved in all of our scoring chains. I’ve crunched the numbers and he hasn’t been able to replicate these stats in the slightest this year across 120 minutes, across 22 matches. If he did he would have 2700+ goals and 8000+ clearances. One wonders if the penny will ever drop for this bloke? Until he stops being such an erratic burst player, sub seems to be his best role.

You'd think that giving your team a heap of one-sided trades would strengthen the team, but no, he's somehow managed to weaken their team by playing all of McDonald, Brown, Weideman, Gunston, Henry, Georgiades and 3 rucks and dropping Petracca out of the 22. Sensational work.

This deserves to be in an art gallery or museum.

Also wouldn't mind bringing Preuss back to the club in a kind of striker ruck ruck role

but people are saying 5 years as if it's a fact that he'll play until 34 and ignoring the fact that there is a high likelihood that he will be done years before then.
None of us have a crystal ball dan, unless you do and your holding out on us?

Gotta take some risks if you want to stay at the top.
