Forget the pic involved then because I can't be a stuffed debating that especially as we don't even know what we will have and what Collingwood will have in return.Come on, the two options aren't get Grundy or have to ruck Weid/Tmac. Second rucks get traded for peanuts every year - if we don't go for Grundy we'll get someone to support Gawn for a third round pick.
And yes, we'll get at least one first rounder for Jackson and we should take it to the draft. You don't give up first round picks for salary dump players.
*Edit - actually I'll correct myself here, I'd be more than happy to use the pick we get for Jackson to bring in an established gun forward. We just shouldn't need to use it to get Grundy.
fair call. I respect your post because you're happy to discuss the matter at hand. If we think he's going to play til 34 then it's a good deal.
I hope he has longevity.
And not just longevity but to be playing at the worth of a 700k player. Injuries hit hard after 30 and nic nat, martin, ryder and mcevoy have all missed large chunks with injury.
There's no evidence in 12 years of their respective careers that either Grundy or Gawn can be played in the fwd line. Putting Max behind the ball is definitely the way to go but unfortunately doesn't help our forward woes. There is always going to be a risk there, he could suffer a career ending injury but so could Jackson.
At the end of the day there is no doubting the bloke is a talented footballer, if the club feels he can come in a play the role along side Gawn then we genuinely have a super Ruck pairing.
The question is can either have a impact in front of goals? At least it will give us the ability to put max behind the ball and take intercept marks in the backline
so you don't want Grundy after all?Forget the pic involved then because I can't be a stuffed debating that especially as we don't even know what we will have and what Collingwood will have in return.
Our game style doesn't suit a plodding ruckman matched with Gawn. We had it with Preuss and it was terrible. Our ruck needs to be a mobile ruck who moves from contest to contest which lets Gawn position himself all over the field where needed. We cant just get a 5 disposal tap ruck who can't go forward because they basically replace Gawn.

Well if we stop the opposition kicking and extra 2-3 goals a game that 2-3 goals our forwards don’t have to kick. There's no evidence in 12 years of their respective careers that either Grundy or Gawn can be played in the fwd line. Both failures, just different levels of failure! So Geelong are failures and North Melbourne are equally the same? I disagree.
Will you concede that the 'key forward drum' needs to be louder than ever? Brown was horrific last night. As usual. Worst on ground, followed by melksham. Not only is he a liability up forward, he's now incapable of even halving a ruck contest. He gets pushed completely out of the way and we lose the clearance straight away, losing costly ground advantage. Also anyone who keeps banging the key forward drum over and over is a *******. Brown and Tmac have looked more than capable when we move the ball properly and Fritsch plays as a second key tall. He's too good to not have a heap of footy going through him.
Can't say I didn't say so.Jesus we need 6-8 forwards, can’t win with these useless pricks
but yes, draft 6, hopefully nail 3 of those 6. Both Brown's and Weideman are goneski. Did flogster set his alarm for 5.45 just to come on here a spew his s**t again?
when did I say Jefferson would help us? I said he would help us in a few years. I said I don't want to throw our draft picks away to pick up Grundy. Last night should've shown just how bad Ben Brown is.If last night didnt prove to you that Maffew Jetherson solves all our problems nothing will
A 194cm KPF who weighs 76 kgs would have made all the difference out there.
What has weight got to do with anything?

With our bomb it into the 50 game style I would think weight plays a significant part in a KPF being effective, friend![]()
Jye Amiss says hello. 196cm, 83kg and in his 2nd game had more impact in a final than Brown has had all season and had more presence.
I respect your Amiss pun.Youre Jye Amissing the point completely as usual.
Freo weren't bombing it to him, they hit him up on the lead a lot with decent disposal.

I respect your Amiss pun.
So basically you're saying Brown has to get laced out on an uncontested lead in order to have any sort of impact?
Also, our game plan is to bomb it high to the pockets yeah? we've done it all year. So if Brown is useless with this gamestyle then it's either drop Brown or drop Goodwin. Which is it?
There's a lot of good forwards in the league that can impact a game despite having the ball kicked to their disadvantage.
Also what about Browns non existent defensive work and his ground ball? How about his pathetic ruckwork where he gets placed aside by the opposition ruck.
Even against Carlton he was monster's and rag dolled by Lewis Young.
don't tell me after all of this time we are actually agreeing. I agree, that it will make no difference so how does Grundy help us? It's a lot to pay to have the luxury of a 2nd ruck.Im not saying Brown is good so stop banging on with that , Brown sucks, something ive said pretty much from day one last year. Id absolutely prefer to play JVR over him. What have we got to lose at this point.
What im saying is unless we have a contested marking beast they really aren't going to make much of difference with how we currently deliver the ball inside forward 50.
