I think personally for him a change would be good, it's clear he isn't first picked for us.

From a team point of view he is contracted, and if a big forward or ruck go down, we don't have a lot to use as back up. He's also worth a packet of chips as a trade so why bother?

A packet of chips could get us a V/WA/SANFL forward or young bloke with at least a higher ceiling than Weid.

how did we improve on Freo's initial offer? we brought in Freo's future 2nd which is about pick 32..but we lost pick 44 to do so. So its no real upgrade at all. Especially as melbourne said pick 44 was unders for Bedford.

It wouldn't matter if we brought in prime Dean Cox, until we bring in a good forward we're just treading water. I can't for the life of me understand why we needed to see 6 months of terrible forwards dropping marks only to double down and not move heaven and earth to recruit a forward.

How is pick 32 not an upgrade over pick 44? By that logic, we should be happy with 13, as it's basically the same as pick 1.

Also, if you can let me know which elite, contested marking forward is changing clubs this year, that would be great. It's certainly not Dan 'kicked less goals than Ben Brown' McStay.

I wouldn't be trading too many of next years picks as it's (supposedly) a stronger draft. Just happy the trade is done. We were never going to win the trade initially as Jackson would be heading into his 4th year with over 50 games under his belt.
While I didn't want to lose him I didn't want him on a 7 year deal. The WA nightclubs would be rubbing there hands together with the cash he is going to throw away

Absolutely no reason we should drop our first round pick back 3 spots for the privilege of helping Collingwood with their salary problems.

Although these are the doors we opened when we did the Jackson trade before Grundy. Refusing to do Lobb deal certainly worked for Freo

My Summary is that whenever you are the one losing the player thats worth alot, you normally in for a bad time. Given we didnt have alot of leverage to work with im feeling 6/10 with the result but acquiring grundy to me feels like compensation for the whole thing. Ill take talent and grundy has plenty of that. The coaches will find the way for it work. Thats ya job.
