I'm a bit confused on this as I thought I read that the softcap accounting does count it as per the original contract, regardless of if they renegotiate at the new club (so if they pay him 4*400 the cap is 2*800 then nada), so as to avoid silly situations like this. Or did I just imagine that?

Seen a lot mentioned on list spots, so I've done the below graphic which hopefully might help. Have ignored Lynch's retirement (replaced by Dawson) and McGuinness (Cat B rookie). Also note that we had a 37/5 list this year, so can take an additional player on the main list, and obviously got the two extra rookie list spots from the AFL.



So, currently, even if we do delist all remaining uncontracted players (those in grey), outside of pick 1 and Harvey we only have room for one more main list spot.

Whilst that looks quite tight, we could delist three contracted players and redraft them in the rookie draft, effectively moving those three empty list spots from the rookie list to the main list. Therefore we could accommodate a few more high draft picks this year without too much trouble.
