What a load of garbage if that’s not your proof that the salary cap is being rorted, I don’t what is?

There is no way if the correct player payments are being declared that Tom Hawkins is being paid less than Tanner Bruhn.

I wonder what sly investment Hawkins is receiving off the books?

It works both ways though. On the one hand the Geelong football club have a bunch of players being paid well below market value, which is enabling them to play finals every year and still attract GWS wantaways, but on the other hand the late Frank Costa's wholesale fruit emporium has a swag of highly paid brand ambassadors who are contributing almost nothing to the business's bottom line. Back when he left Dimma was fuming that CCJ left. They wanted him. The deal wasn't great in isolation of pick 19 but it got us into picks to bring in Paul Curtis, we probably lose him otherwise.

That we got anything back for Tarrant is fine, he was an unrestricted free agent that wouldn't have triggered any compensation.

Yeah agree, I feel there’s ‘something’ with CCJ.

I think a major difference is Gawn has 8cm on Coleman-Jones, helps a fair bit in the ruck especially when Coleman-Jones isn’t a freak athlete. But yeah I think CCJ is a bit underrated, seemed like he lacked a bit of confidence after the first dropping but looked really good in VFL and even had some decent AFL games, just so poor in the actual ruck craft of the game but showed a bit around the ground in terms of marking. Not worth pick 19 we gave for him but there’s a long way to go and he’s still young for a ruck.

I think to myself sometimes if only we could combine CCJ and Xerri’s best traits, they’d be one of the best rucks in the league.

I can agree with that.

I don't like him as a forward. I like him as a ruck. He lumbers around like a bit of a stereotypically stiff ruckman sometimes, but then he'll show a little bit extra, here and there.

I'm not saying that he can be Max Gawn, but maybe a top 8 ruckman.
