I think people need to remember that you are not getting Bowes and 7 for nothing going the other way. GC will want something in next years draft. If we offered either of our future 2nd, yes, we get 7 this year, but then we are most likely out of the second round next year if we also bring in logue, tucker, clark and anyone else we are looking at.

List spots also come into it.

Personally I would be happy at not having a second rounder next year, but not sure I could stand all the sooking for a whole year when people look at our draft hand and complain we have pick x in the first round and nothing until the 40s conveniently ignoring all the players we brought in with those picks
It’s ok if there’s value I think pick 7 this year is enough value for the deal to be worthwhile

Not to mention:

  • We may not have Clarkson for majority of preseason = We won't jump up the ladder like many hope
  • 2023 Draft is stronger then this year - imagine if we come last again and trade away the rights for Reid
  • GC want a future first

If we offered our future first for Bowes & Pick 7, GC would literally pack his bags for him.

If bowes allows it.

If we needed to throw in next years first I’d like a third this year or sharp to just take on bowes full wage.

Potentially we could be low on the list again and the pick is highly likely to be 7 or better.

Really LG? First I've heard you mention it 🙄
Sorry asking for dispensation as the comment was that there’s no win/lose in trades, the only reason I brought it up.

Again my philosophy is if both teams hate the trade it’s probably fair

Bollocks, bid and make brissy pay full whack 10k is irrelevant in a good contract

Brisbane paying full whack means absolutely nothing to us.

Well it does in terms on them finding the currency to fill the spot. Even if it doesn’t I’m petty enough to ensure they get no bargains.

If it was a Sydney style double dip in the first round it would be more significant but doesn’t mean making them scrounge for points isnt a sound practice

honestly, i wasn't really sure we'd jump up the ladder so suddenly in the first year of clarkson. Gotta improve fitness, learn the game plan (that was apparently revolutionary when the players heard it? I think I read that here). That'd take at least a year to have effect.

It was nailed well by hilly. Save them the points, give our kid the bonus cash and Brisbane will help us down the track. It's what we did last year.

Behavioural conditions hey. Clubs reaching into players lives again.
I’m torn on this one on the face of it I think it’s perfectly reasonable I mean I see no problem with a mechanism to protect the club, because even from a salary cap pov if he cops a suspension for another issue then they are screwed.

I mean pro sports have had weight clauses and a litany of other things written in to try and keep their investment going well.

Obviously if brissy make it worth our make that arrangement but otherwise bid away

I wouldn't trade our first next year for 7. I wouldn't even trade it for 3 from GWS. Let alone paying for the salary dump.

Next year's draft is better and our pick could be number 1.

This was our round 23 side this year. With all the players coming to the club who's positions do they take. l'm looking at Logue, Tucker, Hill, and Clarke, ..also bearing in mind we still have Ziebell, Anderson (unless delisted),Hall, TT, Curtis, CCJ, Xerri, Turner, Polec if fit, and Phillips, (when ready) to come back. Seems we may allso be looking at Bowes, Gunston and Bedford. Players highlighted would be the players l would expect to make way for them..So what would our 1st round team look like....Thoughts please!

[39] Flynn Perez,[23] Ben McKay,[4] Aidan Corr

[17] Lachie Young,[11] Luke McDonald,[16] Aiden Bonar

[31] Josh Goater,[9] Luke Davies-Uniacke,[8] Bailey Scott

[44] Cameron Zurhaar,[30] Charlie Comben,[5] Curtis Taylor

[35] Charlie Lazzaro,[20] Nick Larkey,[6] Jason Horne-Francis

[22] Todd Goldstein,[12] Jy Simpkin,[10] Ben Cunnington

[1] Jack Mahony,[18] Hugh Greenwood,[24] Tom Powell,[42] Kallan Dawson

Neither would I on its own particularly with the uncertainty around atm. Even if Clarko is completely free we wouldn’t probably get high enough on the table for next years pick to be more valuable than pick 7, as pick 7 is the centrepiece of the deal it doesn’t scream value as presented (for our future first that is). Bowes’ value is irrelevant if they want to ship him off so desperately
