Ok, so we're better off losing JHF to Port now when he's still contracted than next year when he's out of contract. If we're getting two first round picks for an unproven talent with an attitude problem then that's potentially a good outcome. I understand people saying that he'll be a superstar and a generational player, but the same was said about just about every number 1 pick. Remember everyone crapping on about Cam Rayner being the next Dustin Martin? Remember all the hype around Tom Boyd? Jon Patton? In the cold light of day what did JHF actually show us this year apart from the ability to sook it up on the field and the fact that he thought he was too good to take an ice bath?

We don’t “have to” trade him, obviously it’s best to cash in when the value is at its highest, but at the end of the day they have put a multi year, big money deal to a contracted player at our club… so pay up or GTFO.

The deal that I put forward as the first, and final offer… otherwise that young fella can come back and play in the VFL

Port upgrade their 8 into the top 4 (which slides to 5)
We get that, their future 1st, Sinn
And we send back the future 2 PP.

Then we tell Freo sorry, we will take Logue in the PSD

I think this is the thing.

Port/JHF Management will blink on the final day/last 24 hours.

JHF sitting out a season in the ressies is an absolute disaster personally for him (more so than North) and his management will make that known to Port, especially with Adelaide better placed the following year if they **** him about.

No way he stays at North and the longer we stand our ground the more we get.

****ing rankine. We could be in the mix for a top 5 pick instead of a pick being pushed out to pick 9.

Sinn isn't the player we'd want in a trade back. Bit injury prone in his young career and hasn't really shown top-level tendencies.

You open negotiations around Pick 8, a Future 1st, and Zak Butters. If Butters is untouchable, you look at your Duursmas, Bergmans, or Rozees.

If Port won't entertain that, you tell them to kick rocks and enjoy the bidding war for JHF as a free agent next season.

Rozee > Butters though? Other than that everything else is sound, I’d say yeah 2 1sts and a player like the others mentioned. Sinn is a good prospect imo, and the combination of him and the other two firsts could well end up better than Jason still.

Been talk about Bergman wanting out at the end of his contract for a month or so. Get him an out a year early.

I'll piss myself if Port miss finals and we end up with #8, #8 and Sinn (#12), so effectively about the same as the Adelaide offer that everyone has told us we completely cooked ourselves by not taking.
Moronic revisionism to say we ever should have touched that deal too. We would have had to be the most dickless club in the league to pass on JHF.
