‘All indications’ Hill wants to remain a Saint

By Jon Pierik

St Kilda list manager James Gallagher says smooth midfielder Bradley Hill must improve his consistency but remains a required player.

Hill had an indifferent season, and was switched to half-back. The former premiership Hawk has attracted interest, including from North Melbourne.

“We haven’t had any communication from North Melbourne at all. We’ve had plenty of open discussions with Brad about his footy and what he wants to achieve and how happy he is and where he wants to play his footy for the remainder of his career, and all indications are that’s at St Kilda.

“He’s played a lot of good footy for us but probably hasn’t quite been as consistent as we needed him to be and in fairness, he had some mates this year, so I reckon there’s a lot more in Brad so we’d love to explore that and work with him to get as close as we can to his best footy.

“He’s not easily replaceable, Brad, so that’s our intention at the moment.”

Gallagher said the ongoing club review had impacted slightly on the Saints’ recruiting model through this trade period.

"At the moment" that sounds ominous. Can't I get any good news today?

Port young guns not up for grabs

Port Adelaide has ruled out parting with talented youngsters Miles Bergman or Josh Sinn as part of a package to land Jason Horne-Francis from North Melbourne.

Although not going into specifics on what a potential deal to land last year's No.1 pick could look like, Port's football manager Chris Davies categorically ruled out moving Sinn or Bergman.

"They're both contracted at Port Adelaide and neither have suggested they want to go, and we don't want either of them to go," Davies said on Monday.

Bergman has played 23 games since being drafted with pick No.14 in 2019, while Sinn played one game in 2022 after being taken at No.12 in last year's draft.

Davies wouldn't comment on whether he thought Port's first round draft selections this year and in 2023 would be enough to get the deal done.

"I'm really confident a deal can be struck as long as both parties are fair and reasonable," he said.

"If there's a deal to be done, then I think both clubs have historically got deals done when there's one to be had."

‘Suitable for both clubs’.

No, you’re paying through the teeth, or you don’t get him.

It’s pretty basic really.
Exactly Chris Davies can go **** himself

If it’s not a massive win our way he stays

Worst case he wants out still in 12 months then we accept the shitty deal with 2 first rounders and change

Power confident of landing Horne-Francis

By Jon Pierik

Port Adelaide football manager Chris Davies says the Power will offer Jason Horne-Francis a long-term deal, but baulked when asked if the club was prepared to give North Melbourne more than pick No.8 in this year’s national draft and a future first-round pick.

Horne-Francis has sought a trade home to South Australia, in particular to the Power, where his father Fabian played.
Kangaroos list manager Brady Rawlings said on Monday that a deal greater than the Power’s pick No.8 and a future first-round pick was needed to secure a trade for the former No.1 selection, who has quit the Roos after only one season.
Davies said he was confident Power recruiting boss Jason Cripps and Rawlings would get a deal done.
“I am confident enough that Jason and Brady will do the right thing and work on a deal through the trade period,” he said.
“I think Brady is a fair and reasonable guy. If there is a deal to be done, then I think both clubs have historically got deals done.“
Davies said Horne-Francis had met with the Power last week, and told club bosses he wanted to head to Alberton.
The Power had missed out on Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley, who has gone to Brisbane, while Richmond’s Jack Graham, having visited Alberton last week, will remain at Punt Road.
“Will do the right thing” . Yeah because the right thing is getting in a first year players ear all year and telling him to request a trade.
