If he believes the club are pushing him out that could change things considerably.

Seems bizarre that we’d want him gone for a pick that is not likely to get us someone better than him though.

Unless there are things we’re not aware of holding him back.

Maybe they’re trying to shake him up to up his performance by showing him no sacred cows. Risky move but possibly a tactic

Sounds like the Clark thing might be about lack of work ethic or professionalism. Not sure those are De Goey's problems necessarily, my understanding is that he does the work, just likes to also blow off steam in public ways.
Exactly. Completely different IMO. Dane Swan was a pig off-field as well, but he was gritty AF.

De Goey is a straight up gun, who has proven he can deliver on the big stage. His second efforts etc are great.

Clark has achieved nothing, his movement looks to actually have gone backwards IMO. 5 years into his career still looks like a school kid who eats fruit loops for breakfast and rips bongs on his lunch break.

If he has been told to pull his finger out and has not taken it well, that is all I need to hear. Club is making the right call.

I think we all need to take a chill pill.
The club has been deadly quiet, and to be honest that’s the way these things should be handled - rather than leaks all over the show.

We’re all driving ourselves totally nuts based on rumours and hearsay.

Gaggs played hardball with the Crows on Crouch and would have walked away if necessary, I just can’t believe he’ll give Clark away.
( Well, I have to believe that for my sanity.)

Meantime we’re all going round and round in circles and nobody really has a clue.
Or last year with Xerri - we identified what we were willing to pay, North wanted more and we didn't budge just so we could say we traded someone in. We stuck to the parameters we set. Nothing has happened yet to say we will suddenly change this approach.

Just sit back and watch, crouch was a hand he couldn’t loose.

Or we all just wait and get more info.

For all the shit the club has done, there just seems to be more to it?
This has all come out of left field in terms of last week being spoken about as a possibility to this week it seems to be a foregone conclusion.

Are we missing something that hasn't been discussed/planned?

Point is that the person who told me about this at least two weeks ago said that the club would look around but not sell Clark short.

Yes we have told clubs he may be available but at the right price. This is what you don't seem to understand. I don't believe we can get a Cerra deal either, he is valued around 15, but the info coming out of the club was if they didn't get overs for him, they would not consider trading.

I don't know why this is so difficult to understand.
I totally agree. If I wanted to sell my car, I wouldn't expect to get bottom dollar because I decided to sell it. I expect to get a price comparable to its value.

If the club is looking to see if there are any buyers for Clark, that doesn't mean we should be reaching for the lube.

Didn't they * a chook at one of their mad mondays?
chicken what GIF by happydog

Rumour on the North Board (take it with a grain of salt), Clark gets traded for a swap of Future 1sts.

Would do if that Draft is as strong as they say. NM likely to finish bottom 2.
Yep! 💯

Then take that pick one and trade it with; GC #5 + #15 (they need to offload picks)
or
GWS #3 + #12

Just sit back and watch, you can ignore the trades this guy has made if you like both trading in and out but it’s Bruce all over again. A contracted player that we put on the table who‘s value far exceeded what we wound up with. They wrote articles on what a steal it was but people still acted as if it didn’t matter because we need blah, blah. Well yes it does matter, he appears to be very poor at his job and we’re about to pay for it.

Gringo has been right so often but his opinions are often uncomfortable so he gets howled down. We promoted the guys who misread the list and made the lousy trades hill, Hannebery and so on.
Has Bruce been worth more than we got for him?

This is absolutely positive from the club to be doing this, so different from the Saints of old. Hiding and running away. The club had or have some inherent issues, which they are identifying and actioning. Which is far more positive than some of the doomsdayers on here
Seems like a lot of our supporters prefer the past , they can't see we now have quality in every department and they are professionals and finally it looks like we are removing weak links in the team.

He’s had 1 good year out of 3. The footy he played in the other two was putrid and they’re now trying to replace him with Rory Lobb.

The two picks we got for him were apparently the equivalent of about pick 22, so it’s hard to complain about that return.

We also acknowledged at the time if we were just trading Bruce, we would have demanded more.

But we had other trades that needed to be done and given our plan was to on trade what we got for Bruce in those other deals snd those other clubs were satisfied, we accepted it and moved on.

Here we go again, that’s a question for the bulldogs but I’d imagine they were pretty happy in 2021. Josh Bruce as a contracted key forward was absolutely worth more.

Sums things up pretty well.

Yep, certainly not close to a hill you’d want to be dying on.

The club acknowledged at the time that in order for us to get the 6 deals done that year, we had to be prepared to deal with taking an L or two in order to get everything done.

No way you get them all done if you fight tooth-and-nail for a great result on all 6 trades.
