I don't want Bowes, can we just concentrate on fixing our midfield once and for all.

Feels like a few years ago when we just keep on loading up on half back flankers, please can we just load up on options for our midfield.

We just make the same mistakes time and time again, the Ratten re-signing midseason and football department promotions based on completely nothing really indicates that we never learn.
Bowes is a midfielder who was also playing HB.

If Bowes can dominate that HB position as well as a mid, wouldn’t he be a good player to rotate with Sincs? 🤔

I got drunk and swore at people and got stuck into another poster who didn't actually deserve it. Just some general dickhead behaviour post GF basically.
What were you drinking? Never mix the grape and grain...it can get ugly quick. Or, in my case never drink vodka...love the way it makes me feel like a God, but hate the way it makes me act like a complete and utter twit 🤯

Why shouldn’t members be able to do exactly that? Those in charge shouldn’t be insulated from the people whose hard earned money keep the club afloat.
That's what agm's are for. Give me one other large organisation where you would be able to ring up and get told trade secrets just because you spend a little bit of money with them.
I own some shares with bhp, don't think I'd get through to the ceo if I had concerns about what they were doing financially and tried to call up and get info

Why are we getting so worked up about Bowes. If he wasn't available for trade no one would even know who he is.
Every club should be doing the numbers and working a win win deal with GCS.
Same with JDG he comes or he doesn't come. We have played our cards and they are either good enough or not.

Whilst the media speculates and we pontificate like headless chooks. The real action doesn't happen for a week or so.

Bet you Doogs Paddy and Butler were not on our radar till day 2 of trade week ..took a few things to fall into place first.. including one P Bell.

Same will happen here but Essendon and North and Hawthorn will be hampered and that just reduces the competition for players and deals. Maybe the deals will be skewed our way when more.

Lot to play out and we are pretty stumm at the moment....like that a lot. Getting Walsh on board and Lenny will only add to our attractiveness.

Richmond Coll Geelong Melbourne and Dogs will be busy getting their deals done....doesn't leave many places left if you want to come to Melbourne to play AFL. Blues or Saints.

Bit to play out and the games haven't started.

GCS GWS Bris and WCE all have decisions to make about Salary Cap issues or swapping picks and players and in WCE rebuilding.

Only a few spaces to land deals and we are in a good spot with picks players and cap flexibility to chose the pick of the litter.

Be interesting to see where we are come 1 Nov as distinct from 1 Oct.

It is not Bowes that excited people it is the pick 7.

Pick 7 will have a really good young player in this year's draft.

Bowes is just the vehicle to get that pick, but is actually the steak moves thrown in.

A lot in here just need to take a deep breath. None of the trade or FA periods have started and just because Gags and Co are running a very quiet, very tight ship, does not mean they're not up to their necks in trade discussions. No need to jump at Media speculation.

Post-review, everyone at the Club will be feeling the heat and should be swinging for a few home runs this trade period!

I'm happy to flame them if they do nothing in the end.

It’s hardly trade secrets to say Bowe would cost far too much and Hunter hasn’t asked for a trade.

This is a football club, paid for by members (large part). The less we view these institutions as businesses the better.

He was talked about on here as another Brodie type deal before the pick 7. That's a sweetener. It is a weird situation where it's such a good deal that you are checking around for the cameras to make sure that you're not being pranked. Like if we offered to give someone Hunter Clark and pick 10. It's like going to buy a car and them saying that it's leased so they are giving you more than the value of the car loan in cash for you to pay out the loan.

Collingwood's best and fairest is tonight I think? Surely there's some clarity coming.

I just can't really imagine getting De Goey because it would be too good. Taking Collingwood's best player off their hands, and he's exactly what we need. It just couldn't happen. They will get it sorted I'm sure of it.

If we do get him I'll see it as a coup and will be celebrating, at least until the video of him railing lines off Hanners' pectorals is released

Gary Lyon seems to think he's cooled on St Kilda because we've also got a behavioral clause in the contract

Not sure how true it is but he's gonna be left with no one if that's the case
He’s kidding himself if he’s not going to have to sign a contract with ANY behavioural clauses, it just depends on how much those clauses restrict him from living a life he’s happy with.

I doubt we’ve cooled however, and if we have I’d expect us to be continuing the conversations with the suns for Bowes

Hes actually been getting some good mail over the last couple of years around trade week.

Not sure he's an ITK but someone feeds him info

Well there you go! I'm struggling to believe it, but there you go... Lets see if he's right....

Read this somewhere yesterday, “The Pies remain in talks with his management, but St Kilda is also in the conversation, given its offer has less stipulations.”

But if it is to be a swap of first round picks (as some have mentioned) would the “excited people” be happy to swap our pick 9 for their pick 7 & take on an over the top contract for a wannabe midfielder playing off a HBF?

Jayden Hunt?

Saints have a bizarre approach to trading IMO. We are always happy to pay massive overs for spuds, or beaten up blokes like Hanners, yet when it comes to the real big fish like Fyfe, Dusty or De Goey we limp in with slight overs or something similar to market rate.

No star will come to Saints without massive overs. We don't have the balls to be aggressive in attracting a star, but are always happy to overpay average players.

We are not getting De Goey. In fact this trade period, I suspect all that will happen is that we lose Clark for SFA, top up with more B graders nobody else wants, pay them too much, and worse of all be stuck with Hill's monster contract when he clearly doesn't want to be here.

You talk some shit. We offered dusty, fyfe, Kelly and Shiel well above market value and all of them stayed bar Shiel.
Shiel also knocked back offers from Carlton and North that were up there with ours and settled for essendon which was the lowest...

This is called good management, the fact that we realised that we offered far too much for the unicorn and now we are offering what they are worth.

We are the same as any other team in trade week....

So what you are saying is that we have to pay the $850K salary dump to get pick 7... plus steaknifes Bowes and then pay his wage going forward.

Mmmm.. no wonder the club has pulled out.

Were really not.

If its a player wanting to come to Melbs we need to pay overs cause were not a big club.

The Shiel example is exactly what you then talk against in the next sentence.
