Would love if we found a role for him. Perhaps not a great idea after he did the review. Him instead of Rath. Afraid I am reading too many critical things of Rath. Too late though.

Noble would be a good addition in a football manager or list manager type role which he has been successful at in the past, he's a smart operator.

He's probably seen as tarnished goods since he got sacked as North's coach but he got sold a shit sandwich, anyone would've struggled with their team.

And then rush to be the first to break the news in here. I can see a few broken fingers coming up. Stay safe out there girls and boys.

I’m at work for most of the day. Boss and me might not see eye to eye around the idea of me spending most of shift on BigFooty.

I'd like it on the record that I think, on top of the concussions, that the "he's just selfish" stuff got to Higgins.

IMO there are two ways Higgins can go: selfish, productive Higgins or non-AFL standard Higgins. I want him hungry for goals. We have others for the pressure and the unselfish stuff, but Higgins is a point of difference in his ability to score himself at that size.
Yep I totally agree and I really was surprised that Nick Riewoldt of all people was quick to jump on him, considering he played right next to Steven Milne, one of the greatest and most selfish forward crumbers we had.

Such a shame that our players and coaches enforced that message instead of backing him.

North Melbourne will strongly consider splitting one of its top-two selections for multiple picks or players if it can secure a trade for Jason Horne-Francis for pick two.
And the move could bring St Kilda hard nut Hunter Clark back into the Roos’ frame late in the trade period next week despite the Saints’ desire to keep him.

St Kilda has said it wants to hold on to Clark, 23, but are considering ways to bring in another early draft pick after missing out on the signature of Collingwood’s Jordan De Goey.

There is a left-field option to make a play for high-priced defender Nick Haynes from GWS Giants if the salary dump also comes attached with a first-round draft pick.

Haynes is up for grabs if a new club covers his $800,000-plus price tag but there had not been any big moves for him over the first week of the trade period.

[PLAYERCARD]Hunter Clark[/PLAYERCARD] is still of interest to North Melbourne.

The Kangaroos are working hard to secure a trade for Horne-Francis as part of a transfer involving West Coast and Port Adelaide which could land the Roos West Coast’s pick two.

But the mooted three-way deal could become a four-way exchange if the Roos can engage GWS on a swap for either pick one or pick two (potentially on-traded from West Coast).

GWS, which holds picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19, has already held talks with clubs about bundling up some of those choices for an earlier pick higher up the order.

It means the Roos could offer up pick one or two for multiple selections at the back end of the first round and then try and tempt St Kilda to off-load Clark for one of them.

The Saints’ hard nut midfielder considered a trade despite having one more year to run on his contract and was buoyed by the arrival of Lenny Hayes as midfield coach at St Kilda.

The investigation into North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson about the treatment of First Nations players during his time at Hawthorn had also clouded the move.

Calling Hunter Clark a ā€˜hard nut’ is a bit of a stretch. Brave certainly.

I reckon if they offer us 12 which bumps out to 13 it’s unders. This years draft really drops away after about 10 and we could replace him with that pick.

Yeah, fair enough. Not one though. Not one single midfielder we can identify in the land that can potentially make us better and that we can convince to come. That's even worth taking a punt on!
It's pretty hard to comprehend.
I also find it hard to comprehend that, with the big clubs stockpiling talent to this degree, there aren't more players saying "Hang on...that means I've got practically no chance of playing" and having their managers get them out of there.
One more thing is that if we haven't put an offer to Bytel, surely that means we're working on something midfield-related. Surely! We discovered we had bugger all midfield depth last year. How does not keeping Bytel help? It doesn't, so what on earth is going on?

I can only assume we'll be trying to get really active in live pick trading (or trading picks leading up to the draft), or else this whole period is looking pretty unproductive for us. No trades + Bugger all picks for a mid-range club = ???
I find the treatment of Jack Bytel staggering.

Surely if we develop him, he's the kind of player we need at the right age profile - it seems like we've already decided he's not gonna be good enough, but on what basis? A handful of VFL games?

Surely he's worth try and we already have him on our books on minimum wage.

It doesn't make any sense.

Even if we trade Clark.

I want that Nick Haynes deal.

I think he could be of value to us and he is very good in a role we are terrible at (high ball interceptor)

Geelong are only taking 2 picks to the draft, so all of the extra picks are effectively useless for them. The trade gives them flexibility to trade for Henry as well
Ah...thanks man. I don't get the same level of news as you guys do over here...and I don't have the time to scour the net for info.
I knew they were bringing in a couple of guys from other clubs, but didn't think it was THAT MANY. I saw the Brisbane deal and couldn't make sense of it.
Cheers.

Can someone explain to me why Geelong would give Brisbane 6 picks, including next year's second, for a solitary pick in this year's second round?
Yep, I imagine they are trying to find a way to get Henry through the door whilst still keeping pick 7

I think they will try to use that pick for Henry

It's a lot to give up for a2nd rounder but if it means they won't have to split 7 it's a big win for them

Just more proof that draft points mean very little when academy/father sons aren't included. A trade period that consists of Bowes, Bruhn, Henry and pick 7 is a great result.

I think its unlikely we even got offered 12. If we were, we should take it and run.
I think that is the best we could expect.

Not sure I'd take it and run though. Unless there us something very toxic about Clark we don't know about.

Chances of finding a better prospect at 13 is slim IMO. Better off seeing what he can do when he actually has a good run with injury ie 2020

Basically Geelong swapped next years 2nd and 4th for 25 this year which they hope to get Collingwood Henry for.

Gave a few late picks as payment:
worthless to them as they don’t draft kids.
Worth a lot to bris who will accumulate points to pay for 2 father/son picks.
