Only if they could absolutely see him becoming Jordan Dawson mk2 as a midfielder with his build would i look at it - not for the defence or attack capabilities which we have well covered

The one of top end talent. Can't have too many good players who can play multiple positions. Frees up more players to play up the ground

Intercepting defender (Doedee) or marking forward (McAdam), take your pick. Has also impressed as an inside mid, with limited exposure.

I had my doubts but after watching a few more videos, his aerial work, skills and finishing does appeal.

Proper gun

Go have a look at his last QTR for season where Tas put him in midfield to try get a spark in the Coates prelim final

Also any of his games forward toward end of season in Coates league and all allies games down back

I know it's probably sarcasm but it'll still be great to see him run around and build some hype for the Crows fanbase

Hopefully should prime him for an early debut in 2025 as well, provided he continues his trajectory

If we pick o'sullivan or leake with our first pick I'm going to become completely disinterested in the afl. I'm not saying they aren't good players but I'm done with this club ignoring the midfield. It's complete *ing trash. When we come up against good sides like gws we get completely *ing obliterated.

Speaking of mattymac, I found it ironic that in his last post, he mentioned no players wanting to come to the club that the original club wanted to keep, in recent memory (last one being Jarman), then literally the next month Dawson requested to come here

Was a fair point at the time, just almost immediately rendered invalid lol

I think he is telling furhys and we will pick up a ruck this draft.
Everyone can see ROB isn't cutting the mustard already, let alone in 2-3 years time

ROB is a B- ruck in a league where you can win a flag with a B- ruck.

That doesn't seem to be our main issue.

I think with the way ROB plays, a very physical game ......it's hard to imagine a scenario, whereby he doesn't become injury prone

We have to prepare for that eventuality

Yep, by trading for Ned Moyle.

I just don't think they see it as a priority, and I'm not sure who in the league does think it's a priority.

Hopefully we can get his body sound , fit and strong

That’s the main thing for him next year , if the above happen his game will develop nicely

I think Leake will end up one of the best players from this years draft. He can play anywhere and is powerful. Plays well in defence, kicks goals up forward and has played very well in midfield as well. He is very good in the air and is very hard at the contest. I think he will become a big bodied midfielder. Would be stoked if we pick him.

Maybe that's part of the decision. Probably some real concern this back injury will hamper his development.

And i don't think it would take much for a young ruckman to go past him.
ROB isn't overly tall, can barely jump, cant kick and his one wood, his marking has deserted him.
He can run and make a contest but you need more than that these days from your #1 ruckman

His main problem is his non-athleticism which leads to his other issues you’ve highlighted.

If you’re not athletic you can have a long AFL career (Ken McGregor, O’Brien) or a short career (Meesen, McAsey) but you’re never going to reach great heights.

ROB is a B- ruck in a league where you can win a flag with a B- ruck.

That doesn't seem to be our main issue.

The issue is that we don't have anyone developing to take over when he leaves. Most of the discussion has centred around drafting someone this year to get ready for when ROB starts to decline. I agree that you don't necessarily need an A grade ruck to win a flag, but we literally have nobody else other than Strachan.

And that he will get experience playing against men as a 17 year old so will need to learn how to get the ball using more than brute strength
