Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Describes himself as a 190cm mid/forward.

Has pace and very clean skills. It's ticking two boxes here, we need more zip and class around the ball to balance things out.

Some pretty neat highlights around the place, I think you're right with the matrix comparison. Silky smooth too. We need more of that with the retirement of Breust likely coming in a year or two.
Get the feeling you’d be in box seat for his brother the following year as well who’s not half bad

Saw the wizards 1st half kicked 3. Ended up with 6 or 7.

He is unbelievable. Would be very happy if we get him. His hands are phenomenal with his overhead marking. Kicks them from everywhere. Snaps, set shots on the run. He's a classic small forward pest too.

Super talent.
Cool. We can have our own Tom Papley that most Hawks supporters hate

Will Watson play any vfl? Seems to have missed the window. Watson tearing up school footy really doesn’t tell you much. Seeing how his game translates against bigger bodies is the concern.

Didn't bother Caleb Daniel.

And the Wizard is an upgrade on Daniel and not just on talent.

Think about that for a moment.

Just a quick question under the new academy rules anyone can pickup Walter inside the first 40 picks where GC can’t match and is he the best key forward available in the draft? Same height as Caddy but much more strongly built!

Na, they have special rules.

Nate Caddy. height: 192cm. weight: 91kg.

Jed Walter. height: 195cm. weight: 91kg

It's deadset crazy re: the academies.

There was competition wide frustration about the potential advantages they were offering clubs, so the AFL amended it and took the magic number back to pick 40 before a bid could be matched.

Oh, but not for the Northern state clubs which is the major reason for the frustration in the first place. Ridiculous.

To even it out a bit, it should be pick 20 for Northern states and 40 for every other club.
i think next year i heard someone mentioning that it might be reverted back to pick 20? for NGA's, we'll wait and see if that eventuates, the AFL met about it a few months ago, but have not announced their decision yet.

There are 2 types of academies Northern and Next Generation. Northern can match anytime, Next Gen only after pick 40.this article covers it How the AFL draft bidding system and Draft Value Index work

Irrespective of any goings on in the Australian Football League - and any of the associated influence it may have on the draft - I believe there are five players who could be the best player on a premiership team. Reid, Watson, Caddy, Duursma, and Curtain stand out too me as players who could potentially lead a team to a flag, winning games of their own back. McKercher, Wilson, and Edwards have all proven to be capable of playing excellent football and could very well push into that group, but I'd hesitate to expect them to be the best player on a top team. McKercher, for example, seems like a great fundamental footballer who could be very productive at AFL level, but I'd be worried about his reliance on his left and whether his high-energy gamestyle holds up to the rigours of AFL football. He reminds me a bit of Cam Mackenzie, maybe a little faster but lacking a good 7cm and 10kgs. For now, however, I see the top 5 as potential ceiling-raisers for a team that may have a solid foundation.

That better?

Anywhere in that top 5 you are getting a player. The panic over Harley and finishing on the bottom is not worth it. I cant wait to see one of these kids in our kit.

Again, going through that list, my mind hasn't changed much.

Harley
Caddy
Watson

Obviously Jed Walter would be excellent but we have no choice there, but, the other option is the rising Colby Mckeller!
Though, then , we'd have " the 3 Mac's".

Even worse, we would have three cmacs lol

Heyyyyyy it's me..Still a birthday party, (my own, roast me you dalty enchillladas) still as souless and meaningless as ever. Let's review some draft prospects.

Nate Caddy - 193cm - 91kg - Plays Like Curnow

There's quite a bit of debate around Caddy. What I've seen it become is "can he be a top 2 forward option at AFL level." I believe we can provide both the learinging experience and pathway for Caddy to emerge as a top forward in the league. We have a dearth of high possession half forwards with good to great disposal that would be perfect for Caddy's playstyle. Best case we have Lewis/Caddy for a decade. Worst case we get the best 3rd tall from the draft. Win/win.

Zane Duursma - 188cm - 79kg

I've done deep dives on Duursma before. His ball use is either fantastic or rushed and to lofty. He gets bailed out by his forwardlinr a bit. But his production is undeniable. 3 or 4 goals a game. 20+ disposals. Constant impact. He makes the team he plays in better, both with the footy and without. Id be happy with him in the side.

Daniel Curtain - 196cm - 91 kg
Lete guess, we "already have too many u tercepting defenders". "It's too much for one club". First of all, stfu. Second of all Curtain is a phenomenon.

Excellent as a back. Excellent as a mid. Excellent as a forward. Excellent as an executiv error football management. Get the guy in to replace kennney (the molewiper). Curtain does what his coaches ask, and excelles at it. If you haven't noticed, we've had some trouble stopping teams scoring. Curtain stops that. If he's there at 3/4/5/6/7/8 we'll be faced with a tough decision.

I trust you are all intelligent enough to understand what happens if we have pick 1 or 2.

Harley or the Wiz time baby.

Enjoy the Lions game. I hope my headache has subsided by the time it has come on.

On Saturday afternoon at 3/4 time I noticed something a little weird.

Mark Mackenzie was on the oval and just watching/listening to the Bullants huddle from a respectful distance. I have no idea if this is something he normally does so maybe the regular Box Hill watchers can let us know. His eyes were fixed on what appeared to be one person for a prolonged period. So I sneakily wriggled my way around to see who it might be that he was looking at with such interest.

It wasnt the coach Brodie Hollands, or at least I dont think it was. I assumed it was a player/s that he was watching. In the end I think it may have been the tallish bloke who played some time in the ruck and forward - left footer. I dont know his name but think it might have been the player that recently received some media that he was being looked at by clubs as a possible for the MSD.

Edit - yes it was this bloke
We got to pay you to follow MM around.
