It’s based on a historical and now out of date generalization that all Collingwood supporters derive from the suburb of Collingwood, which was a den of poverty, drug and alcohol abuse and general racist scum. There may have been some truth to that up until the late 90s but it’s been far from the truth ever since. Their supporters come from the same broad spectrum of society as all clubs now.

IMO Eddie McGuire being an intolerable Flog is a big reason why most people other than Pies supporters dislike Carlton

I have been a dockers fan since late 2001 or early 2002. My team I barracked before The dockers?

Sadly it was Carlton of all sides.

Yep this around Late 90s and early 2000s when star South Aussie players like Stephen Kernahan and Craig Bradley and Andrew McKay were running around.

Lots of South Aussies barracked for Carlton in the 1980s and 1990s with those South Aussie stars in that side.

I suspect that there are very many of those types in every club.
