Mate you'll be happier if you don't hold a personal attachment to blokes who don't even know you exist.

There’s something very cold and dispassionate about that statement. That’s not what footy’s about TK. It’s all about attachment, emotional investment and celebration of club idols, heroes and legends. Without that you may as we’ll go barrack for a company on the Nasdaq.

Im a fan of the team, not the player. I don't wanna see Melbourne crash and burn just so I can see Oliver win some more BNFs. However burning down Oliver to see Melbourne win flags I'd do in a second. They are premiership heroes and they always will be, but in terms of a sporting team that was ages ago.

I want Oliver to stay
This is the only way I would trade him.

Trades
Trade 1- Oliver+Grundy compo for pick 2,3,14 north
Trade 2- 25 and 34 for Port f1
Trade 3- pick 13,14,Port f1 for pick 5 Gold Coast

Draft
Go the draft with pick 2,3,5,6
Draft Zane Duursma pick 2
Draft Colby McKercher pick 3
Draft Nick Watson pick 5
Draft Ryley Sanders pick 6

West coast take - Harley Reid pick 1
Hawks take -Danial Curtin pick 4
(If hawks take Watson or sanders we take Curtin )

Free agents
2024 - hit free agency and target a key forward and a ruckman with all our cash

If trust is broken you just about have to trade him. Feels like if it didnt happen this year it would happen in the future (and he could potentially be worth a lot less)
You look at Tarran Thomas and De Goey. Both were thought of as trade-bait at their respective clubs after years of off-field misbehaviour.

If we're accepting unders for one of our all time greats in his prime after just a few months of unreported drama it raises a lot of questions about our people-management skills.

Tarryn Thomas was found not guilty and De Goeys off field stuff was always way overblown. He touched a woman who was ok with being touched at a night club and that somehow makes him a bad person.

Unless you actually know what Oliver's done it could be far worse than both

Both have rap sheets longer than that. De Goey got in a bar fight overseas while in rehab lol. I just find it hard to believe Oliver's crimes could be so bad we've lost all faith in him in the space of a few months and none of it has been reported.

Give him an off-season to get his head on straight and rally around him. That was the same chance Goodwin was given.

Oh was he? Well there you go lol.. I know he was pretty vocal with the Tim Tarranto deal last year.
I might be mistaken. I remember he was happy with the Daicos contracts earlier in the year and was saying that you'd only reserve those sorts of deals for absolute superstars and rattled off a few names. Think Oliver was one of them.

Getting in a scrap overseas vs pissing away a season with drug use is very different. Maybe that off season was last season they gave him

I actually have Grundy going to Sydney for around pick 31 - that’s that I said Grundy compo.

And north have missed out on multiple stars in the past. They could make a play.
But that’s the only club I would trade him to unless a godfather came in.

Obviously we don't know the details but at the moment the rumour as I understand it is: He broke up with his long-time missus who kept him on the straight and narrow, and has been off the rails since. To me that isn't an irredeemable situation yet but I'm happy to wait to hear more. I find it very weird that this has stayed out of the press for so long.

It all depends, lets say Goodwin put his neck on the line, went against other people at the club and believed a lie Oliver told him only to find out it wasn't true and this happened more than once. Thats a lot different to bar fights and relationship troubles.

De Goey lied to the pies about breaking his hand in another bar fight. Said he was playing with his dog.

I just hope we'd back ourselves in to rectify the situation if we don't get offered a very good deal for him.

Again, that can be a different situation than Goodwin personally going into bat for you against others at the club. If its got to a point where they want to trade him you have to think about worst case scenario's.

I assume we would. De goey and Martin were both floated for trades aswell and stayed because they weren't getting rid of them for free. He'd have to Fevola bad to get turfed for nothing

Lol Melbourne aren't 'offering up' Oliver for trade. There has been nothing said about 'drug issues'. Funny seeing this story get more and more sensational.

This is what's triggering a lot of sensitive Melbourne supporters.

They're simply not looking at the bigger picture, instead they seeing more at how many more awards he can add to his cabinet. Like who gives a shit if he's a 4x best and fairest winner? Give me flags thanks.

Some of the comments on social media from our very own supporters is embarrassing really. I've seen such comments such as they'll stop supporting club, sack Goodwin, won't renew memberships etc.

Hogan was a bit of a similar situation (obviously Oliver is a far better player), nobody saw it coming. I would say there was far more behind the scenes there that nobody knew about, likely he went off the rails and thats why he was available. Turned out pretty well and the club did very well to get what they did on reflection.

Morris also said we certainly wouldn't be publicly saying that because it would decrease his value the moment we start openly trying to sell him.

Hogan also wasted the best part of 4 years of his career as well
