He's the one - if he slips due to his height, I hope we offer 16 and our future first to try and trade up. He would play round 1 and immediately make our forward line more dynamic and more dangerous.

No first hand experience with the bloke but supposedly:A lot has been said about Collards off field issues, but what are the issues specifically?

I’d say that Fish has realised he’s not in our best 25 and is looking at a team that will give him first team football.
I think 39 for a player as far down the pecking order as Fish is, is a good deal.
I wouldn’t discount the idea that we will be happy to get some $$$ off the books.
No first hand experience with the bloke but supposedly:
Homesickness
Work rate
Training standards
Professionalism
Toxicity towards teammates
Selfishness
Family issues of some kind which effected him during the champs according to reports. May have just been a sick relative or something of that nature idk
At what stage do you ignore what you’ve heard and take a punt?
I'd be taking a punt. Premiership teams often have a few of these high risk high reward players. Don't believe the club has been set up well enough off field to handle them before now but with our pressing need of a talented small forward I think he'd be worth the gamble. When we talk about these things, some are serious and some not so much. The family issues to me is a lot more important and a bigger deal than say, selfishness, homesickness if it means serious cases are a bigger issue toxicity towards team mates.
Some of those are a lot easier to work through than others is my point.

Fair take.I mostly agree with what you’re saying, but the draft is a crapshoot every year. If we feel our future first can be used on the right player this year, and we have reason to believe that player will be a fair trade off on the value we lose next season, then pull the trigger.
We haven’t taken a heap of young talent over the last few years. We’ve taken enough, but with two locked in next season I don’t see an issue in bringing some assets forward, for the right type.

What I've been told re his training and professionalism standards, toxicity etc is from a close relative who's a recruiter in WA for a VIC club. Life member at the club he works for and all that, so I generally take his info at face value on anything draft related.Just added what I was told. Unlikely to get drafted outside of WA and will be a late pick-up if drafted
How do we feel about Koltyn Tholstrup?
Someone sell me on Tholstrup.
Seems to be an OK high forward option, but not especially quick, nor an especially good kick. Wins a fair bit of his ball up the ground and bombs it long to contests.
Tackles with intent, which is good. Hands seem OK. Has a good little shimmy but doesn't seem to have great acceleration.
I'm just seeing a Beau McCreery type, which is fine, but not what I'd like to be getting with a first rounder.
Like, but don’t love. Keep trying to talk myself in to him, without success. Plenty to like, elements verging on x-factor, Cam Zurhaar comparisons abound. Tholstrup is highly regarded, played WAFL not Colts for the season. Have been watching for a while and do like him.How do we feel about Koltyn Tholstrup?
CARLTON
Draft picks before Trade Period: 16, 65, 73
Carlton’s draft hand could look very different come the end of the trade period. The Blues gave up 2023 selections for Lachie Cowan and Blake Acreslast year, but trade moves for Paddy DowPLAYERCARDSTART13Blake Acres

PLAYERCARDEND, who has been linked to North Melbourne, may see the club re-enter the middle section of the draft. Carlton is set to take up to four picks and is open to splitting its first round pick, which has been pushed out to 16 after the club’s stunning end to the season. The Blues’ list is well settled but one area for improvement is their outside polish, with the club ranking 11th in the home-and-away season for defensive 50 to inside 50 percentage and 12th for kick rating. Rebounding defenders Riley Hardeman and Archie Roberts are around the mark at their first pick and would help address this. Outside runners Darcy Wilson and Caleb Windsor are also classy ball-users who can be used as attacking wingmen or at half forward. Alternatively, 188cm swingman James Leake could compliment Carlton’s bookends into the future with his spring and overhead marking, while lean key defender Olli Murphy is a prospect who can develop underneath Jacob WeiteringPLAYERCARDSTART16Zac Fisher
