You see your job through until the end of the year. Smacks of lapping up the good times and quitting during the bad. Weak. If I hear mental health I will ****ing spew up.He has stood down
Must think his time is up at the tigers and come to terms with it
I would hope he wouldn’t in the middle of the year where his club are decimated by injury the year after coming off a GF flogging the year before and the team massively down on confidence. That would be just plain weak as piss. So knowing Longmire’s character no he would not.Would horse pull the pin when he thought his time is up?
Carlton have been getting slammed in the media for most of the last 20 years I reckon. Is Essendon really that s**t that losing to them leads to you ending your coaching career?
Jokes aside, Carlton absolutely coping it this week. Seems like every second bloody week we come up against a side under the pump from the media or their supporters. Port, the supporters were after Hinkley, GWS were getting slammed by the media, Freo were getting slammed, Clarkson issues and now Carlton. Can't they have their crisis in weeks where they don't play us?

He's coached the one club for 14 years straight. You see your job through until the end of the year. Smacks of lapping up the good times and quitting during the bad. Weak. If I hear mental health I will ****ing spew up.
Time you hit the sack god help usI reckon he got the sack. I don't think there's anything honourable about it.
Good post HB , I THINK YOU'LL FIND CLARKO'S PAST PLAYERS BACK HIM TO THE HILTAFL coaching is obviously a high stress occupation (albeit well paid) but looking on from outside there appears to be some people who carry that stress and some who can let it go.
I remember Gale coming out and saying he had to counsel Hardwick during the covid 'isolation' camps because Hardwick was struggling (even apart from his personal issues at the time) and his behaviour was actually impacting the players.
Whereas I've heard nothing but good things about people's experiences when Longmire & the Swans were in the camps.
Again just looking on from outside people like Clarkson, Hardwick & Beveridge seem to be individuals who can appear highly stressed, are publicly fiercely protective of their players, quite prepared to have a go at the media and perhaps not coincidentally have been successful on GF day.
There are others eg Longmire, Hinkley & McRae who can be emotional, but seem to be more even-tempered and can let things go/move on.
Premierships would tend to indicate that one type is more successful, but of course that might also be circumstance (low finishes, high draft picks, backing of Board, then good coaching leading to on-field success). But I doubt such stress is beneficial for the long term health of the individual or their relationships.
Certainly towards the end of his tenure at Hawthorn, Clarkson seems to have fallen out with just about everyone at the club.
And there is where my late nightamateur psychologybullshit will end.
What does his achievements past at the club have anything to do with their current status ? Was all rosy when they recruited Hopper and Taranto and now that they have been a bust this year he is bailing ? They are far from a shitshow currently just have not performed to their own expectation or his. Btw a coach is not a fraud if he does not walk out the door before he is pushed. If you work on that premise he shouldn’t coach at any level. I don’t care what narrative is spun he is bailing seeing choppy seas ahead. Weak. He's coached the one club for 14 years straight.
2 flags as a player. 3 as a coach.
They were s**t for the first half of his coaching career.
So I really don't think the bloke can be criticised. He's certainly not soft and his character can't be questioned.
Shows character to walk away and self awareness rather than the coaches who try and fake it and drag out a shitshow by pretending they have still got the "fight" (Adam Simpson for example).
Rather the honest bloke than the fraud.
I don’t think he has been given the sack but I can’t say he isn’t deserting his post. Maybe I should have a lie down too.Time you hit the sack god help us
This is where we must pay total respect to Horse. He is a wonderful manager of people who also happen to be his players & fellow coaching staff.AFL coaching is obviously a high stress occupation (albeit well paid) but looking on from outside there appears to be some people who carry that stress and some who can let it go.

He did a wonderful job taking care of the group through Covid.
Now that we are struggling with injury & not nailing games we should win, he is keeping it steady in the media when many others would have cracked.
You only need to read through match day threads where people like myself are posting emotionally as the game is being played & that is a classic example of how not to be when coaching these guys.
Starting with myself, we need to give more credit to Horse for perhaps keeping certain things from the media & in turn us supporters.
Things like injuries certain players are carrying into games, which are not allowing them to be their usual selves & leaving them unable to run out games, but at the same time protecting the younger group from getting smashed.
I know Geelong smashed us again but having gone to the Collingwood game expecting a thrashing, in hindsight it was a fantastic effort to be with them for most of the match apart from the late lapse that had them overrunning us.
So from my end, I'll try & behave myself through the game day threads & give the club the benefit of the doubt.

Horse escapes a lot of media pressure up in Sydney

Will take next year offProbably one of the best coaches of the modern era and still young coaching terms.
He will be sort after big time
Good old HighReeveGood post HB , I THINK YOU'LL FIND CLARKO'S PAST PLAYERS BACK HIM TO THE HILT
I really feel for youHaha sorry but thats just weak from Hardwick.
He’s a greedy pig thats set back richmond’s ability to rebuild by selling the farm to get hopper and taranto.
Turns out they werent the answer and he cant get a last hurrah for a 4th flag so he quits cus its all too hard.
Benefit of getting 3 flags but if Horse did this s**t after 1 flag what would our reaction be?
Sorry but thats just piss weak and everyone who thinks its admirable better think about their reaction if Horse sold the farm for two hack mids
