Where's the goalpost and toilet paper bonfires???? Amatuers!!
I remember, as a young lad, yelling out “They’re handing out free beers in the Skilton Bar!” then sitting back and watching the mayhem…

I'm still annoyed that they let Essendon bring in James Hird for the second part in the Tuesday.
Was an absolute stitch up.

First time I realised how much the “rich clubs” controlled the league.

What do you guys mean by this?
Should both teams have entered the same team for both games? Or is there something else I'm not aware of?

I don't remember the details of that game, I guess I was too young.

Was an absolute stitch up.

First time I realised how much the “rich clubs” controlled the league.

Having access to that part for a bit, I learned very very young just how much pull some of those clubs had with the overall scheme of the league, it's part of why when I was able to have some sort of say at a local level anyway, anyone from any sort of dept that stepped out of norm and impacted like that, my boot was firmly on throats to correct it and IDGA who got offended.

Back then it was a continuation, not a new match, ergo teams should have remained as is. As we know from well, history, there are have and have nots in the AFL and we are in the have not with the Bombers in the have so that fair play aspect got pissed away as easily as that.

Oakley, who at that time was fire sale all the things that aren't big 4 in Melbourne mandated 12minutes quarters, 2 of them and extra time and teams could change even though it was a continuation from around 20mins in the 3rd. So in essence "hey Bombers you have time to bring people back, hey Saints good luck" was the result.

On the plus side, I remember Mark Harvey absolutely lambasted the AFL for the handling of it and called them incompetent. As stated on the telecast and much like 2010, we were yet again involved as the guinea pig for the aFL to be all "so, after we stitch these guys up, we're changing rules around" so the narrative of the competition screwing us specifically stuck firm.

Thanks. Had no idea the replay had short quarters. That's fascinating. Not surprising to hear how things turned out.

Bombers were leading anyway, I think they only increased the margin by maybe 2-3 points in the end, so culmination meant nothing, the process was just really bloody filthy. All because the AFL CBF maintaining a stadium properly in a match and were haemorrhaging cash, hence all the merger talk around '94-96 with the Bears & Roys merging in said '96 (that we magically survived through badarse people).

Sad sad days to say bye to the Roys though.

You'd think that someone as aesthetically challenged but on the same wicket as Clayton Oliver would pay someone to cut their hair instead of doing themselves with a beard trimmer and the bathroom mirror.

I hate it TBH, lights going out killed Brissies momentum, so what should have been a maybe 7 goal win will be lucky to be 3 goals all because of nothing the teams did to arrest momentum.
First time Brayshaw has said something NOT moronic in commentary when he said that Brisbane had come back out with the mindset of “easy does it now”, but that Melbourne had come out after the win.

They nearly spudded it up there, Brisbane.

Reckon Grant might have missed here. Max had an injury crueled start to his career, reckon he’s allowed a few moments in the rooms after doing another knee.
What a ****ing disgrace by gt. Seriously I’m biased because I know the guy but he has had 2 recos and if the players know anyway. Pathetic thommo.
