Drugs are bad, kids!
I found it a really odd choice.

I still would like to see Taranto play in the forward line. I think he looks like dangerous in there, would provide great pressure and win the ball at ground level in the forward 50. Perhaps most importantly would not be required to find someone inside 50, something he does poorly. I reckon he kicks fine, he jus takes bad options.

not sure how accurate this article by Sen is, but the journalist has sone interesting things to state about Coniglio’s re-signing. Seems Cogs is on $1.2m yearly payment, and his role as sole captain led to a drop in morale that led to Jeremy Cameron leaving

Revisionist nonsense.

Very inaccurate.
Very subjective opinions with a lot of assumptions and complete falsehoods.
The offer was reported at the time almost $7mil over seven leaving $1.4 mil on the table with larger offers elsewhere.
Cogs was voted captain with Davis for 19, but declined, not wanting to be a co captain.
I'd be flabbergasted is they over roded a vote in 20. I suspect there was no vote at all.
As for Cameron, this narrative flies against everything He has said himself, his actions and is an assumption I think is unlikely.
I suspect Sam has just put some of his thoughts together and created an interesting story.

News Limited’s season predictions before AFL starts today. The good news is that no one predicts that we will finish last. The bad news is that no one has predicted us to make the finals. However, Callaghan seems to be the closest challenger to what everyone tips is Ashcroft’s coronation to the Rising Star award. Again this is all predictions, and I have confidence that we will challenge for the last couple of final spots- I guess we’ll see.

ABC Sports predictions of the AFL ladder positions. Seems this is based on Phythagorean expectations, draw strength and projected list strength.
They think we’ll come 16th with an expected 8 wins for the season. Optimistically, they note the similarities between us and the 2022 Collingwood team, and conclude that if “everything goes right for them, they could be surprise finals contenders”.

Haven't seen anything published yet but all we know is that Rowston looked good and Cadman kicked 6
First up, gutsy win yesterday. My passionate dislike of the Crows had me barracking for you to hold on.

And yeah, it'd be nice to have some kind of writeup from either club about the practice match. We've got a host of players coming off injuries and no idea how fit they are, if they did well, whether they could come in for Buddy this week. E.g. Amartey, Gould, Francis. Same for the "next in" mids like Roberts, Sheldrick.

Nice article about Kennedy - congrats and well deserved.
“On Sunday he will play his 150th game and become a life member, the 19th person to be recognised with that honour and just the seventh member of the inaugural squad to make it there”.

Although early in the year this is a good little snapshot, defintely headed in the right direction being grouped with all the best teams right now. Shows we can move the ball really effective the length of the field, which is something we've really struggled with the last couple years and something the elite teams do well. Scoring the 4th most from our D50 and allowing the 5th least.

Our injury list - Preuss now out for 2 months?

What the hell happened? Like seriously, how does this happen every single year?!

I remember like a couple of weeks out from the start of the season we had basically no one on our injury list. Just Madden and one other, neither of whom was close to our best 22. Then Bedford and Daniels got injured. Now it's like... this. 10 injured players, most of them out for multiple weeks.

Just once it would be nice to have a season without a massive injury crisis, but already it looks like it's not going to be this year either.

I put the question to Kingsley at the members Q&A and he thought that more training at high speed would reduce the injury list but seems he underestimated how injuries work in western Sydney

The time we almost lost Toby Greene! Spoiler - it was a Thai Henna tattoo!

Does Preuss come back into your side when fit or will Flynn keep his spot?
Not sure.
I think Preuss when fit was probably ahead. 8 weeks out may change that.
Personally I think he is a better player, despite being ill-disciplined

Interesting stat - doesn't explain what they're using to determine the "top 8", but nevertheless it indicates that Nick Haynes is back to form.
