Sorry to intrude and clog the thread with supper coach chat, but any clues with Kingy will be running with Flynn & Pruess or just a solo ruck ?

Cheers in advance
The practice match had Preuss rucking solo and Flynn as the sub. They switched them at about 3/4 time. I'm not sure if the subbing is a plan going forward, but it definitely suggests a preference for a solo ruck at least to begin with.

If I had to guess, I'd say a single ruck based on the practice games.

but definitely not certain.

Yep everything we've seen points to a single ruck system to start, that might change depending how succesful it is throughout the season and would hope he adjusts if it isn't working, but Preuss seems in line to be the sole ruck for R1

Given that ROB is historically crap it should work against the Crows

Whilst it’s a subjective analysis, our forwards have been ranked the 15th best. I think we are better than this, especially when Cadman debuts, Bedford returns and Jesse plays more games a year. The website had ranked our midfield 12th, and our midfield is stronger than our forwards.

I think our forward line can be pretty good if things break right but there is a lot of question marks, that was the most games Hogan had played in a year since 2018(?) so I'm a bit nervous to see if he can follow that up again considering his injury history maybe he's turned the corner with his body although more likely we got lucky last year, the smalls are a huge question mark, Daniels has never shown to be a consistent goal threat or stayed healthy recently, Bedford is unproven in a full time role, Riccardi has never shown it consistently, Lloyd is ageing and was never anything more then a nice complimentary piece, Kennedy has never been a forward before, Jones hasn't played a game yet and when Cadman plays he's very likely going to be pretty bad this year and probably next year as well, KPF just aren't that good in their first couple years, look at Amiss last year he played a few games in a team pretty desperate for KPF help. Greene we can bank on being a superstar and HH is going to be rock solid (although he might be playing at the other end of the ground) but outside of that I think we're crossing our fingers a bit and hoping things go right for us, if they do then our forward line could sneak up to about average I think but outside of that I think there's a clear ceiling on how good this group can be unless Riccardi totally breaks out, Daniels stays fit and starts kicking heaps of goals (we've never seen it before), Bedford comes off the hamstring and makes an immmediate impact. I feel really really good about the other 2/3 of the ground but up forward I have real concerns.

I think style wise this game plan will assist our forward not being AS damaging with plenty of midfielders streaming in to kick goals and trying much harder to lock it in or repeat entries.
I agree that if things don't go to plan our forward line will look very average. But what else could we really have done?
We clearly tried to address it through draft and trade. Hogan has been a steal in my opinion. Riccardi is 23...I just feel like he needs to gain some confidence under bright lights.
I'm more excited for Binga as a mid option as he's not particularly damaging as a forward.
Stone should play in front of Lloyd if he's fit to go. Look to the future and get some games into him

Agree that some things have to break for us for the forwards. Bedford’s unavailability for half the season is a blow, but Riccardi will hopefully have a breakout year, especially with his contract expiring this year. Also, Ward is going to play exclusively as a forward (our first ever goal kicker!). I also think our midfield and backline can mix it with the best.

Great that our coach, thinks Cadman is going to be a 12 year plus player with us. However, it seems that Aaron is a clear 4th behind HH, Jesse and Riccardi for the KPF spot, so unless those 3 lose form, it will be a while before Cadman debuts

I’m not fussed about an early debut. It’s all about his development.

Callaghan is one of the very few players who can challenge Ashcroft’s seemingly inevitable Rising Star award this year. Though officially the number one draft pick, Cadman as given little chance, as just one key forward has won Rising Star in the 30 years of the award.

This is our backline rating - 11th best in the competition. The website had ranked us 15th best for our forwards and 12th best for midfield. Whilst I still think we are underrated and should be at least in the top half for both the midfield and backline, agree that comparatively our forwards are not (currently) as good as the other positions.

I agree … the midfield is underrated but Preuss can help that if he knuckles down.

I think the forward line with Daniels/stone/Bedford will be much improved and Hogan, who was coming from a long way back at freo, is only getting better

11th best?
Criminally underrated.

The afl website has season predictions, premiers, runners up, brownlow, coleman etc.
Most predict us to improve, generally to 12th.
One person predicts Jezza for Coleman, Taranto for Brownlow. That would hurt.

Where does Fahey sit in the queue for a crack at the big time? Long way off or thereabouts?
Some are saying he may be in the team rnd 1.
I think he is next in line for the small backs, he'll come in for any of Cumming, Ash or Whitfield if they miss

Don't think he's far off, was part of the 26 man squad that played against the suns and looked pretty comfortable, 200m gained from 10 touches. Would think if there's an injury to any of Cumming, Whitfield or Ash he'd be the first call to come in and might even squeeze his way into the side playing on a wing, seems like Wehr has had a positive preseason but he's proven nothing yet so think there's certainly an opportunity waiting for him if he strings together some good performances.
