Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

What pick is Hayward worth? 19…
Hypothetical, but If we ended up with Petty and Hayward and our 2 x 20's picks at the end of trade period, that would be a good get

Tall swingman who can play both ends well and crafty small / mid forward that may allow Rankine, Rachele and Pedlar to be more midfield

Then with our 2 picks, grab the best mid available and maybe a project ruck or maybe Moir

People have info /rumor of a trade etc and the responses on here are 1 you,re talking crap, 2 where is your proof so why would you bother posting ? And no sanders it has nothing to do with being critical it has to do with a certain few on this board who shout down anybody with a different point of view

This is so ignorant of what actually occurs..

It has nothing to do with the information.. everyone here is happy for people to bring insider info they get to the table and let us all know..

What people in here dont appreciate is the way that this info is communicated by some..

Instead of being clear and straight to the point.. its instead often handed over lathered up in bullshit cryptic nonsense.. over a period of hours and a few posts..

And it just ends up reeking of someone simply having flimsy info who wants to drip feed it out in a desperate cry for attention..

Just be clear and straight to the point.. and sure.. dont name names if you want to protect your sources.

Thats all thats needed.

If people just stuck to this simple rule then there’d be none of the endless nonsense that follows and people ending up thinking they have been laughed at for bringing info to the table..

On Petty, I think we should go hard for him and potential pay overs.

This is why:

1. We know he's a decent defender, so worst case, we pay a little bit much for a key pillar. Cox is off the board, keene looks good and Murray should return well. It would then make Butts depth.

2. Next year, if Melbourne plays him fwd for the whole year and he breaks out as a key fwd his value sky rockets.

3. 23 age is perfect for our list. Talls take 5 years to develop, get him in his prime.

4. I think it give us a chance next year with Murray out making finals while we still have Tex.

5. Swing him fwd after tex retires, and Murray is back and instantly fills a whole in our team.

6. Love fog, but reckon he's a second tall.

7. Petty going fwd releases Thilthorpe to become an elite ruck/mid/fwd. I think ROB is the biggest issue in our midfield.

8. We've been linked to O'Sullivan at that pick anyway. So will get a tall that's not ready for 3-5 years. Mind you I do rate O'Sullivan, but reckon he gone by then.

It just makes sense.

Any remaining picks should be spent on midfield talent and wingman.

I think Cook fills the Mcadam hole in the team. He looks like a fwd half player to me, that can be moved to hb to fill a void from injury in game and rotate through the wing.

Petty is another one if we pick up we could then release Himmelberg and get some value for him while he still has some (before he comes free agent and we likely get very little).

So:

Melbourne trade 14, 27 and 35 for pick 11. A lot to give up for pick 11

We trade 23 and 26 for pick 14, which Gold Coast got from Melbourne

North Melbourne trade their future end of 1st rounder for pick 18

Gold Coast end up losing pick 11 and 18, but gaining 23, 26, 27, and 35 which is about +400 points

North end up with 2, 3, 15, 18, 21 and 25

Pretty happy with that, now holding pick 10, 14 and 19.

With Melbourne giving up a lot, they are clearly getting up as high as possible.

Petty trade getting louder, with our hand they will be looking at one of our firsts.

absolute rubbish

mine was clear just because i could not tell you exactly what I heard because of who it implicated does not mean its wrong

i dont care whats said i have stuck to what i heard first hand bu the way all the way through despite the abuse.

I hope it comes off just to rub your face in it. if not i hapoy put my hand up and say its wrong but I think its already clear theres enough smoke my rumour was correct

Would McAdam and 14 for Petty and 27 be a fair deal for both sides?

Can't trade 14 to Melbourne, seeing the pick came from them.
