Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

It's a little suspicious these WCE fans seem so keen to offload their F1 pick.

West Coast were awful this year mostly due to injuries, right? Presumably they'll be a fair bit better next year?
They did get a new strength and conditioning coach in from memory, so they will probably be better on the injury front from here on out.

They have still lost just under 800 games of experience though, and I'm of the opinion that their midfield is the weakest in the league by a margin (though Harley Reid could change that).

Not good if you end up with a bunch of Sloane's

I'm not sure. Even after losing Hurn, Schuey and Nic Nat this year, as well as Kennedy and Redden the year before. They still have 2 more 30+ year old players then the Crows have on the list. And they have only drafted 3 x 1st rounders since the 2017 National Draft, 2 of which were last year.

Let that sink in!

At this point I would only put them at the stage of list management that we were finishing the 2019 season. Lots of pain yet to come!

What I don't get is the message from many in the media was it was a no brainer to sign Sloane as we weren't tight for list spots.

I am sure we can make it work but we clearly are.

They were using the extra spit for a veteran as an excuse, ignoring that Tex could have taken the free spot. So either way, Rory was eating up a very scarce list spot.

Yep, the genuine young talent is pretty minimal and/or not yet developed right now

I’d be shocked if they weren’t spooners again next year

Ok, I’m going to ask, is he a crows supporter?
A 2021 draft report on Arlo Draper (his older brother, drafted to Collingwood in '21, delisted a fortnight ago) quotes a tweet that says Arlo Draper was a Crows fan, so potentially the family are Crows supporters. Otherwise, google is coming up with nothing on which way Sid's loyalties lie.

Atleast they have a 2018 flag to comfort them whilst they go through that pain!

I just checked out of interest. In the same timeframe, the Eagles have drafted 3 x 1st round players, the Crows have drafted 8 x 1st round players (not all hits for both teams, but those are the numbers).

Additionally, the AFC has 3 x 1st's this year currently. And a F/S next year who will likely be a 1st round talent on top of their 1st rounder vs WC's single pick in each draft.

So unless they do make a trade. That number could theoretically end up 5 vs 13 by the end of next years National Draft (over 7 drafts)

How many rounds in to next year before Baccs posts that he was a waste of a list spot and Moiston closes his account and rejoins under another name?

Pre or Post bye?

Based on what Sloane has said another club could offer him 5 more years and he’d flatly refuse to talk to them. He’s comfortably the best candidate.
Absolutely the perfect "player" but a poor choice by every other measure.
Unless he volunteered, we're a better club than to treat our champions with such little regard.

Sloane not retiring is pretty annoying but I'll tolerate that... I guess...

Far out. The number of people that close accounts and open another one.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s just me and one other person who has 80 different accounts that post to this board.

A bigfooty version of The Truman Show

TBH I never understood the rationale behind it.

I also don't get how some posters in here have gotten so good at picking posters that change their account. It's actually quite impressive!

Nah they are going to be right down the bottom of the ladder again. I think they will be last again next year. They are in for a world of hurt over the next couple of years.

Unfortunately North Melbourne will be a lot better next year because they just delisted Kayne Turner, Aidan Bonar and Jack Mahony

Whatever we do, the Crows MUST NOT pick up any of these three players

I'd swap one of our first rounders on the spot for WC first next year, wouldn't even blink
They definitely wouldn't do that though. I can't see them accepting 10+14 for their F1 either, though it'd be closer to the mark.

If it were 10, 14 and 20... would we do that? I feel like they might say yes to that.

Think deal on the night like the carlton deal. If there is a player they really want at one of our picks, we trade that pick and doa swap of 2024 1sts
