With today's news here is the current list of players drafted by the Crows and still playing with the Crows

2018 was a shocking year. Same year Port got Rozee, Butters and Duursma. 2 of them will be a 10 year potentially premiership winning midfield......with the right coach. They absolutely smashed that draft, moved up considerably, got draft capital by getting rid of Wingard, etc...whereas we totally screwed it up magnificently.

2011 is pretty brutal when you think about if we didn't go out and get mini draft pick 2 to get Brad couch we could have had Toby Greene instead of Crouch, Kerridge could have been Yeo and instead of Grigg We could have had Neale.

we did uncharacteristically well in those 2020 and 2021 drafts. Some core long term players in that group, and others with extremely high ceilings. Michalanney was obviously a free hit the club can hardly take credit for, but Dowling is already looking a very good pick too.

Hello. Curious what happened to Hately, thought he was looking promising early in his GWS career but seems have had a hard time at Adelaide.
Mmmm .. GWS initially wanted far more than Adelaide were prepared to offer in a trade. Then used focus on the Cameron trade to ignore conversation

Then GWS were ok to let him walk to the PSD

GWS didn't rate him, and maybe there was a good reason for that

2016 was a train wreck

In - Gallucci
Poholke
Himmelburg
Signorello
Davis
Jarman

Out - Lyons traded for peanuts, still playing
Henderson - delisted then played 69 games for Hawthorn

Would be happy to finally trade Himmelburg then never mention that draft again
Still bitter about our development in some respects though. I don't think it's all on the recruiters. Gallucci showed a bit as did Poholke. Chucked em on a HFF tho and let me rot.
Same could be said about Davis. Horrid management and development of a young player to throw him to the wolves at Kardinia Park on debut, then banish him.
Jarman worth a speculative rookie pick for the sentiment any day of the week.
Signorello was a low pick gamble that didn't pay off. Can live with that.

So if we upgrade Murray and Parnell, we are left with 2 free spots to either draft or trade players in. Not ideal

We are linked to Chol, Hayward and Petty. Plus we have a good first round pick to use and some good early 2nd rounders.

So ideally we need to free up another 2 spots. That let's us bring in 2 experienced players out of the 3 mentioned above, and then bring in 2 kids through the draft.

Some tough calls need to be made still, Borlase needs to be delisted and then added to the rookie list. Parnell may have to go the same way and then potentially Hamill too. Himmelberg leaving will help with this if he does go.
We'll probably create 1 or 2 positions by moving contracted players to the rookie list.

I remember when playing as kid, if the jumpers did actually have numbers they use to have range from x-small through to x-large

Andd they used to number the jumpers x-small though to larger jumpers with those numbers

So the smallest kids on the team got the single digit numbers
I wore number 20 :$

I think “the correct” comment concerns the Lisfranc injury and thats why they are prepared to let him go in while in contract.

McAdam Grundy Hayward 3 way trade

Yep. Any sort of combination of this, the speculated veterans list, possible extension of the MSD rookie contracts (Parnell), Cat B extensions (Borlase). Then players possibly leaving, McAdam, Doedee, Himmelberg? Sholl?

I think we might be okay.

Maybe Hamish finally got a proper say when the old regime left?

Probably not. Though it's possible that having a new regime has made it easier to pick well. Especially if Nicks/our selection committee have a particular idea in regards to identity they're committed to.

I could imagine drafting for the Burton/Pyke era would just be a nightmare.

With that attitude no player will come here. We need to set our sights on players like McCluggage and convince them with a deal they can't turn down
But he'd be on $750k in Brisbane. Maybe we offer another $300k - which he loses a chunk to managers and half in tax.

Just moving for money is challenging, because most clubs can offer very similar sums. You need another attractant, like coming home or the promise of greater success.

jenny61_99 Mostyn stating he knows a players salary, can you tell him to stop it

Where has our fishing poster boy gone, McHenry has disappeared. Surely he is on the trade table along with Scholl.

I have lost all confidence that Cook will play anymore than a handful of AFL games he showed some flair a couple of seasons ago but his lack of intensity and inconsistency seems to have become more common.

would we offer Murphy, Hamill, Himmelberg or even Strauhn to free up spots and bring in fresh faces?

In a low value draft what sort of pick would we get next year? Our current pick may only be worth a late first next year. That's if we can even find someone willing to take it.

If we get a player requesting a trade to us though it basically forces the other club to accept compensation from what we have. Brisbane would be tossing up a late first rounder as band 1 FA compensation in 2024, versus whatever we offer this year.
Why do you keep saying that about this year's draft?

It sounds like clubs think the top 12 to 15 is excellent, but it falls off a cliff.

I thought Twomey said the top of this year's draft looks better than next year?

2016 was my killer too. Really thought we had nailed it and would be a core group we could build a champion team. Galluci and Poholke showed great promise and Sig seemed like the proverbial diamond, not to mention the excitement of Jarman. Then crickets…

Given we seem likely to lose Doedee, McAdam and have Murray and Schoenberg out for long term I don’t we put up any other best 25 - so Murphy safe

Scholl and McHenry maybe. I think McHenry would definitely have takers in Vic
