There is no lesser amount of investment that Fremantle can make to have Jeremy Sharp available to play in a position we have a big hole in.

I like the idea that Sharp and Stanley are both playing on the wing/half forward for us during this year because we effectively would have used two bonus rookie slots to get them.

The risk/reward potential for Sharp is so high that the chance that it amounts to absolutely nothing is not a problem to me at all. Even three years on a rookie list for zero games. Doesn't matter to me.

If he plays a handful of games for Freo in 2024 we are already well ahead on that deal.
I doubt it is three years. More likely two.

How Jl who ever in the Football Dept thought Hughes could play wing is just plain dumb , perhaps an insight as to why we finished bottom six this year
Bet no one is owning up
Agreed. It didn’t look like working even at Peel in 2022. If that was the basis for letting Acres go for nothing then big time balls up.

Hughes was serviceable when moved back to backline. Wing he was not. The best of that situation that could be put forward was Hughes becoming more aware of the need to be a more attacking and quicker decision maker from the backline.

At the end of the day Hughes I expect to be at Peel. He can come in and play his 3-6 games as injury replacement.

The trade of Acres (added to NOD PS injury) and then Injuries to Chapman, Walker and also Aish (had concussion) gave Hughes a free ride.

Which of his games impressed you most?
Mostly to do with his 60 metre bombs and he runs all day

Can't say I've watched too much GC games but I liked him in National champs back in the day, I'd be playing him a straight line role on the far side wing, up and down, up and down, up and down.

If Noddy can get fit then he can challenge, Aish should be shunted to either Defense or the sub (good sub imo, slots into many roles).

I think we should be moving on from Aish the winger this year, much prefer to develop Sharp in Henry's role.

You really are sold on Sharp.

I think people are too harsh on Sharp, he didn't get played in the GCS Ateam this year because they new he was going to Freo no matter what , they decided to put games into players that will still be there next year. that's the right choice for their team.

He played his role in a team that won the Premiership this year, more than any of our players can boast, I think we may end up with a better replacement winger than Henry or Acres , I'm excited and can't wait to see how he goes in Freo colours.

Just a bit of friendly banter with Freo Leo. I think there is good potential with Sharp and hope it does work out. I watched a lot of the GC VFL games and there were some where he played quite well.

I’m not at all believing that line about him not getting a game because GC knew he was going. If he was good enough he would have played. He did fall out of favour with Dew, but when Dew left GC his form in the VFL was very good but still didn’t get a look in, with the new coach King. A half fit Ellis got chosen ahead of him.

GC also could have traded him for F3 which would have been useful for points but in the end dug their heels in and wanted a F2. The only F2 was the early one we got for Logue. Just ludicrous the way GC handled the whole thing.

Wasn't the knock on Sharp in his draft year his lack of contested ability?

He could be another Tom Sheridan type i.e. runs around like a ******** all game doing * all.

Henry had zero contested ability and so does Brad Hill and Langdon. The only one who was decent in the contest was Acres, so you can get away with it as a wing

A bit harsh? The discussion is about whether he is a walk up start in our best 22 or not. There's little/no dissent about getting him on the list.

Blake Acres 191cm 86kg

The contested ability should correlate to something there...

I'm thinking Blond hair means he's not very good at the contest. Henry the only other blonde on the list and Brad Hill dated / married / was ruled by one.

He's ahead of noddy and aish for mine

Johnson should probably play more inside

Stanley is an interesting one but coming off stress fractures will push him back you'd think
I want some of what you're smoking.

Ahead of Aish who is a proven contributor at AFL level?
I get that he's not flashy or A level, but the guy plays a role and usually plays it well.

Sharp and Noddy will both be fighting to stay on a list unless they step up.

Emmett and Stanley both showed some promise in a couple of games, but it's still super early and IMO people are a bit ahead of themselves. We can hope they partially fill gaps left by other mature AFL players, but ultimately we'll be relying on overall development from the team to progress.

It's time for aish to be phased out, Henry back half of the season shows a youngster can produce more on the wing and still have room for growth

Aish can either fight for a lockdown role or be backup/sub

Aish is the type of player we should be pushing out to start contending again

Edit: if he does knock the door down at peel though, then he can come in and play a role but that's an if

Tick.

Luke McPharlin - East Fremantle + junior 400 champ = perennial mark of the year contender and best backman you've ever seen.

Aaron Sandilands - East Fremantle + weirdly athletic for a FREAKING GIANT = best tap ruckman of the modern era

Luke Jackson - East Fremantle + so fast he hits the switch and gets into bed before the light even knows what to do with itself. Your girlfriend's bed.

I actually don't need facts here. The answer's in the question. Jeremy Sharp, dual under-18s All Australian, East Fremantle wunderkinder who unfortunately also happens to look like freo1997's wet dream - shall we get him in for free?

Longmuir, J doesn't have the same level of difficulty with attractive men that you and Stuey Dew apparently have. He'll take the redhot, steaming raw talent of a bloke who can literally run all day and turn him into just the sort of wing that Carlton will wish they could poach.
Simon Black and Ben Cousins (and Harry Taylor) went ok too
